You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

I’m going to bed. I’m knackered- constantly..

Have good evenings ☺️

MrsDanvers123 · 18/11/2020 21:41

Has nobody else been using the cover of their mask to say all the things that you would usually get the sack for? I'm just worried I will need a period of readjustment once the masks are done with Blush

MsAwesomeDragon · 18/11/2020 21:42

smile I'd love one of those t-shirts!!! I regularly have to bite my tongue to stop me saying that out loud to certain pupils.

noblegiraffe · 18/11/2020 21:45

God I am venting some pent-up anger against Us4Them at the moment so in a way they are performing a public service for the first time ever.

phlebasconsidered · 18/11/2020 21:48

Oh FFS!!!!! After a whole school staff meeting tonight our parents evenings are to be held over 3 FUCKING EVENINGS till 8pm using school class phones. In one week.

FUCK OFF!!!!!!! I have an actual real life family! Closer and closer to just signing myself off.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 18/11/2020 21:49

@MrsHamlet

We can put all the piles of cash in the special binbags
It’ll fall out the holes they cut in them for the nurses to put their heads and arms through.
MrsHamlet · 18/11/2020 21:53

We're doing online parents' evening. Normally, it's 4-6.30 on one evening but we're "allowed" to do up to 4 hours over 3. I'm now feeling bad because I have two groups so I can't fit them all in to one evening... but why the hell should I do more? They have another bloody teacher!

MsAwesomeDragon · 18/11/2020 21:54

Oh phleb that's not on at all!! How can 3 evenings in one week possibly be ok? Surely you aren't the only teacher with a family who need to see you. Flowers

I did one hour (in an afternoon), for 4 days. Had the biggest uptake ever - 100% in fact. Was the best parents evening set-up ever. Just called on my mobile (or Teams if requested). Did two of those hours at home at the kitchen table. The only Teams one I did at home was the chair of the governors, don't mind her and her son seeing my kitchen bookshelves.

Loshad · 18/11/2020 21:59

Phleb, that’s rubbish. Why so much extra time?
We have been doing online parents evenings all term, thye are working well and we have a fab thing where the computer hangs up when the parents allocated time is over, BUT they aren’t taking any more time than normal.
None of you will be fit to work with three nights like. That on the trot

MrsDanvers123 · 18/11/2020 22:12

And this is where it's really shit and any goodwill there was, disappears.

Flagsfiend · 18/11/2020 22:12

@ChloeDecker

bubbles enforced on buses.

This is interesting. We cannot ensure bubbles only on the London public busses, trains and Tube that the pupils get at my school. I do wonder if this is exacerbating the problem!

Yeah, tbh I don't know how well it works once the bus sets off. But the students have to wait in year group bubbles and then board in turn. It is a big change to before where it was just normal public transport, these are dedicated just for school children.
TheHoneyBadger · 18/11/2020 22:12

Loving the merchandise idea and proper lol at the holes in the bin bags for nurses arms and heads Grin

I had a proper taking the piss attempt at getting me to do something that is so far from my job it's laughable. I think without saying no outright I've managed to make clear they can gtf. Very much hoping they've got the message and won't be shameless enough to push it.

Appuskidu · 18/11/2020 22:12

Closing schools? But why?!

Aren’t they covid-secure?!

New York schools to close on Thursday, apparently because of a 3% positivity rate, what the WHO states is a dangerous rate. Think we passed 3% quite a while ago

TheHoneyBadger · 18/11/2020 22:14

It's only uk schools that are safe

Hercwasonaroll · 18/11/2020 22:15

Late but hello all.

Lost my mind on a stupid corona thread about Christmas.

Hope you're all OK. I even felt sorry for SLT dickhead today. (you know the one with the shiney suit and the reinvent the wheel ideas after teaching for 2 weeks).

Appuskidu · 18/11/2020 22:16

Of course, silly me!

Yes, all the time!
TheHoneyBadger · 18/11/2020 22:21

I missed the title. Think it might have to be a virtual Xmas party. Egypt is out because you need a negative test taken less than 48hrs before arrival and it has to be printed with official letterhead. Way beyond our 3rd world, sorry world beating, testing system.

SquashedFlyBiscuits · 18/11/2020 22:27

@phlebasconsidered that's really rubbish!

Have procrastinated in a positive way and baked brownies for DH's department tonight.

Hercwasonaroll · 18/11/2020 22:29

Phleb just saw the parents evening thing.... How does that work with directed time?

RuleWithAWoodenFoot · 18/11/2020 22:48

I use the cover of my mask to each chocolate when I'm on break duty.

MsAwesomeDragon · 18/11/2020 22:52

But how do you get the chocolate through the mask rule? I've been trying to eat with a mask on and I just can't do it!
