You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

That means he broke lockdown, right?

MrsDanvers123 · 15/11/2020 22:15

Wasn't it for work purposes?

WhenSheWasBad · 15/11/2020 22:16

That means he broke lockdown, right

They should have moved his office into a school. He could have used the magic walls that keep Covid out.

noblegiraffe · 15/11/2020 22:19

Well, work from home where possible means remote meetings I’d have thought.

DreamingofBrie · 15/11/2020 22:20

Fondue sounds lovely! I tried to persuade my family to have hot pot on Christmas day (Asian version, so hot broth and put stuff like sliced meat, dumplings, tofu, veg etc. in it) and dh looked crestfallen..., so have agreed we'll do it on Boxing Day instead.

Sitting in bed going through tomorrow's lessons. 3 lots of 6th form and 2 lots of ks3. Was planning on switching off about an hour ago Hmm.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 15/11/2020 22:23

I think we might be making the mistake of thinking that Boris believes the rules apply to him.

Piggywaspushed · 15/11/2020 22:33

Oh, I see that annoying Munro chap is doing the gov's work for them again.

Piggywaspushed · 15/11/2020 22:44

I also find it interesting that the occupation stats are coming from ONS data gathered anyway , rather than from any special research. Last time round we had death data : ghoulish maybe, but where has it gone? It suits them for people to believe the deaths are all very elderly people on their last legs.

Piggywaspushed · 15/11/2020 22:45

I bet we wouldn't SI of we had been in a meeting. We'd be told to crack on.

Hercwasonaroll · 15/11/2020 23:26

I bet we wouldn't SI of we had been in a meeting. We'd be told to crack on.

Only people who have T&T on get to SI where I am. Everyone else gets "no you couldn't possibly have been that close".

Augustbreeze · 15/11/2020 23:28

His WhatsApp message to Tory MPs claims his meeting followed social distancing rules. Really?!?!

Have T&T made an error then?

CallmeAngelina · 16/11/2020 00:03

I've been troubled, watching IACGMOOH, seeing them hug each other. I'm sure they've all isolated and been tested so they're now a bubble, but it goes against the grain to see it, after having had it drummed into us not to do it for so long.

MrsHerculePoirot · 16/11/2020 00:05

Thank you for the narration tips. Have done it. It’s for staff. If you don’t hear from me again I will have died from embarrassment at hearing my own recorded voice 🤣🤣🤣

monkeytennis97 · 16/11/2020 05:50

Morning everyone! Here we go again.....

PumpkinPie2016 · 16/11/2020 05:57

Morning folks Grin

Week 3 begins! Keeping everything crossed that all of my team are in the building today!

A trainee from Art is observing in Y9 today and I must remember for both my lessons to use teams/the microphone so kids at home can join in (watch me bloody forget!).

ChloeDecker · 16/11/2020 06:26

Morning everyone! My first day teaching live lessons from home. I feel so nervous!

Am laying out as many activities for my DD as I can to try and ensure she doesn’t interrupt me but with the best will in the world, I don’t think my 5 year old will not disturb me all day, eh!?
She’s also had lots of work sent through from her teacher to do but I won’t be able to do anything with her till either the evening or this weekend.
Interesting times....

namechangedyetagain · 16/11/2020 06:55

Monday already? How?!
Good luck to everyone teaching via web today. Sounds like a whole other level of pain.

This week as well as finishing my planning I really must start my reflection essay and trying to gather as much evidence as possible for my files. We have our first assessment at Christmas and I desperately want to make it.

Just need some oomph by the time the weekend comes to get going!

RobertsUncle · 16/11/2020 07:03

And another week begins - best of luck everyone. May it be dull and uneventful!

Medra · 16/11/2020 07:15

The immunologist on Radio 4 has just said if his child was in a classroom with a positive case he’d want the whole room isolating.

Hmm...

SonyaCisco · 16/11/2020 07:41

Just watching Matt Hancock on Breakfast and he seemed to say that if you are in the same room for 45 minutes, but distanced, you still have to isolate?! Seems to be a different rule to the one we are all working from....he did seem to stumble around the issue tho so I expect a ‘correction’ if he gets pushed on it later.

noblegiraffe · 16/11/2020 07:43

What? Then schools will instantly close. There’ll definitely be a backtracking on that one.

noblegiraffe · 16/11/2020 07:43

This is why we want Hancock in education, he keeps accidentally telling the truth.

WhyNotMe40 · 16/11/2020 07:47

@noblegiraffe

I am still holding onto the belief that despite being a Conservative he's a good sort underneath.
MsAwesomeDragon · 16/11/2020 07:55

If we were following Hancock's rule then I should be isolating. I'm not, I'm going into school to be in the same room as 5 separate classes. Hey ho, it's one rule for schools and a different rule for everyone else.

Morning everyone. I hope you all have a good week (at least a not terrible week anyway)

ChloeDecker · 16/11/2020 08:08

The gov really do have an agenda when it comes to schools then. Or just incredibly incompetent or both
