You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders, and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give the staffroom password just in case it attracts the wrong sort

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the booze is stashed - Thirsty Tuesdays, Fizz Fridays now in operation.

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom and you will receive a detention

Hi all.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 10/11/2020 17:50

Well if I was an A Level student in Wales I would be rejoicing. Double bubble time - pubs open and no A Level exams. whoop whoop

Just got home. STARVING!

DollyMixtureLulus · 10/11/2020 17:52

Well, today's highlight was a parent calling to complain that I had marked work wrongly as there was a 9/11 at the top.

It was the date

Other than that mine were actually v. good today.

StaffAssociationRepresentative · 10/11/2020 17:54

OMG - some kids dont stand a chance a chance with that sort of complaint @DollyMixtureLulus Good example of a parent so wound up that they dont stop and think

One of mine stopped writing in Literacy after the date and title and took out a book.
Apparently he didn't know they were meant to start the task (despite me telling them to, and everyone else around him getting on with it in silence).

MsAwesomeDragon · 10/11/2020 18:03

I love it when they try to claim they didn't know they were supposed to have started callme. Yours are smaller than mine though, so I'm less inclined to think yours is having you on. Mine are definitely just chancers.

One of my year 7 terrorists has been fex this week. My lesson was significantly calmer today!! Seems like he might be the ringleader.

I never know whether to feel cross (on your behalf) or vindicated, when I read of secondary colleagues who are STILL having to hoover up this sort of stuff, when many of us in Primary have been battling to get them independent from quite a young age.

DollyMixtureLulus · 10/11/2020 18:07

It was such a pleasure to say 'actually, that was the date'. Felt like sticking two fingers up at him at the same time

I made such a teacher face when I read that, I nearly pulled a muscle Grin

SmileEachDay · 10/11/2020 18:20

My day went like this:

Bonkers Y8 set 3 with last minute rerooming dramas.
Tutor group
Top set Y10
Bottom set Y11

I’d like to challenge all the MN “teachers don’t have a unique job” ers to tell my another job where you’d deal with over 100 people of such diverse need in the course of just over 3 hours.

MsAwesomeDragon · 10/11/2020 18:20

I had my blood test for my diabetic review today, so it now feels like it should be a free for all on carbs and chocolate until the results come back. So my diet is going swimmingly 😁

GravityFalls · 10/11/2020 18:21

I wouldn’t, on balance, like them to cancel exams in England so soon. I feel it’d be very very demotivating for my year 13 - those who have already been getting As and Bs in mocks and class assessments won’t feel any need to push themselves, and those who would traditionally feel the squeeze in the spring term won’t get that kick up the arse they need and would quite probably have poor attendance and engagement for the rest of the year. There are ways of making the exam series more fair, and we should look at those first.

Augustbreeze · 10/11/2020 18:21

. to you too (it is v funny, esp in combination with that poster's name!)

But am I the oldest on this thread, no one's yet picked up on my allusion to early 70s telly on the Broom cupboard thread?

I had my bloods on Saturday hence feeling exactly the same - although think they’ll be rubbish as couldn’t even hold it together for the two weeks before properly 🤣
