You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if you have not used the hand gel. Close the door quietly on your way out and put your mask on.

Yes I'm seeing as many primaries popping up as secondaries, children too not just staff.

noblegiraffe · 07/09/2020 15:36

@MrsHamlet

A message from Angelina - she's been banned for a week!
Wait what? Did she have any warning?

I had a weird PM from a random poster last night asking if MNHQ had told me my post had been deleted from the ‘teachers work hard’ thread and asking if I knew how many deletions led to a banning.

Wonder if it’s linked.

Iamnotthe1 · 07/09/2020 15:58

@NeurotrashWarrior

Yes I'm seeing as many primaries popping up as secondaries, children too not just staff.
Studies say: 1) the longer you spend in a room with someone, the more likely you are to catch anything they have, 2) 10s and over spread like adults.

Government guidance says:

  1. no expectation for social distancing in primaries at all,
  2. no use of PPE in primaries.

Are we surprised?

Saucery · 07/09/2020 16:12

Today was utter madness. Unsustainable madness. Once COVID 19 gets in that building (which it could be already, the number of children we had to send home for testing) then it ain’t leaving until everyone has had it.
I feel very spaced out. Adrenalin, I think.

starrynight19 · 07/09/2020 16:18

Absolutely crazy. Me and dd both been for a test today. Both with symptoms , dd been in bed all day.
We only went back last week.
Three different primary schools bubbles closed in Middleton where my friend works.
What happened to Angelina 😳 ?
We have nearly as many schools with cases as Scotland and we haven’t even been back a week , madness.

WhyNotMe40 · 07/09/2020 16:18

Omg I am so drained. Got to pick my own kids up yet (- there was no more coughing, all as right as rain.)

The year 10 and 11 corridors and stairs (year group zones) were an absolute mosh pit at lesson changeovers today, with staff trying to wade through as well, with no masks....
Trying to do planning etc in a tiny workroom with 5 other colleagues as the staffroom is closed..
Year 7s hugging each other at breaktime.
If there is one case in school, staff or student, it will be everywhere in days....

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 07/09/2020 16:20

If MN emailed you every time they deleted a post three’s spend all day doing nothing but sending out emails.

I would think a lot of the issues at the moment probably aren’t spread within schools. Given the number of +ve tests I’d imagine it’s more of a reflection of how much virus is around in the community. It does seem like PHE are taking this seriously even if the government are telling us all to go to Pret

TheHoneyBadger · 07/09/2020 16:21

Second day of teaching today.

Fucking madness! When you leg it from one end of the school to the other only to find some bastard has nicked exercise books from your box for that class it is rather flustering.

Kids are doing great so far bless them - honestly it would be hell on earth if they were kicking off but I guess they haven't reached that point (yet?).

As to the education is programming - I've been teaching about the nazi's rewriting the school curriculum, particularly the version of history to indoctrinate german children in 1933 re: jews to blame for everything, race and blood the driving factor of history etc. I had to obviously get them to grasp the term indoctrinate and not one of them said, err but isn't that what all education is about? Grin I resisted raising that as a discussion point because they're only year 7 - plenty of time for subversion later.

MrsHamlet · 07/09/2020 16:23

She called someone an effing idiot. Said person was demonstrating the qualities of an effing idiot so....

Piggywaspushed · 07/09/2020 16:24

Just done bus duty ... three entire buses were maskless. FFS.

Piggywaspushed · 07/09/2020 16:25

Angelina does get a bit sweary....

Piggywaspushed · 07/09/2020 16:26

We had the mosh pit too! School still filthy.

And the kids are so angry about the one way systems.

RigaBalsam · 07/09/2020 16:27

A school near me has a case but hasn't shut yet.

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/09/2020 16:29

Nope. Sigh.

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/09/2020 16:30

Fuck today's cases Shock

noblegiraffe · 07/09/2020 16:36

@Piggywaspushed

Angelina does get a bit sweary....

Suspect it's the idiot rather than the swearing, MNHQ don't mind swearing but they do mind straight up insults.

I make a complaint about lack of cleaning today too. And I think I'm going to start wearing a mask in corridors, the kids aren't giving teachers any space.

TheHoneyBadger · 07/09/2020 16:44

This is totally identifying if any of my colleagues are on here but we also had a power cut of over an hour at school today. You just couldn't make this year up!

TheHoneyBadger · 07/09/2020 16:45

Bless Angelina she lets them bait her into outright telling them to fuck off Grin It's like a teacher deliberately subtly baiting a kid to get them removed quicker. Must learn to bite her tongue! lol

Augustbreeze · 07/09/2020 16:45

Have you checked Fb since you joined the Boycott unsafe opening group, @NeurotrashWarrior. They are VERY ANXIOUS!!!! But interesting anecdata, will stick with them for the moment.

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/09/2020 16:53

I would have used the word hysterical.

But I also appreciate how anxiety works.

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/09/2020 16:54

They're blaming it on schools; it's clearly not that yet, in the timescale we've had.

noblegiraffe · 07/09/2020 16:55

Oooh I just had a thought. If Ange was banned, do you think that's where life has been lately?

Piggywaspushed · 07/09/2020 17:12

I don't think she was banned. Just bored.

She is careful not to be banned.

Keepdistance · 07/09/2020 17:25

I dont think its just the schools. But there are what 66 schools already. Out of a few thousand this week.
Clearly the infected child/adult who spread it at school has also been in the community spreading too.
I think it's the holidays. Maybe eat out to help out?

But also people have likely been meeting up more with schools friends after holidays even uk and because schools are going back soon. Yr r parents were inviting them all to meet up in the park.
You should have seen how busy the zoo was here too. Almost completely outside but if there is any chsnce of outside transmission - same with school pick ups etc.

Anyway more measures needed to control even the colds. Even if people have to go to work/school with sore throat/day s after d&v maybe we need encouragement not to go to other recreational places/clubs etc when not 100%.
Feel a bit forced back to brownies/rainbows etc. Dont want to lose places. Rainbows looks like it's outside hopefully. Feels a bit ridiculous avoiding it anyway as - lots of dc1 class go anyway and every other person has got kids doing loads again. (Though i know the risk adds up)

28 at a 300 charity foot match.. Surely outside though?

Augustbreeze · 07/09/2020 17:27

Yeah @NeurotrashWarrior am certainly not keen on the terms some of them use about teachers and schools. Did you see the link to the Toryfibs twitter account as well? Didn't look terribly well done.

It is interesting to see the attitudes/worries/misunderstandings etc though
