You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff only – a sort of room of requirement. Baiters, haters, goaders and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Do not give ‘The Every twat for Themselves mob’ the staffroom password as a number of them are operating in an alternative reality.

No DfE muppets allowed

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to goad us then that is not allowed in the staffroom, especially if you have not used the hand gel. Close the door quietly on your way out and put your mask on.

So far only 1 south of m4.
Looks like cities and high areas eg swindon.
Is wales all the zante cases?

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/09/2020 10:28

They're working off what parents send them and collating. It's not that official.

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/09/2020 10:29

And bless em, they can't spell Hartlepool.

Keepdistance · 07/09/2020 10:34

The DM had labelled swindon in the wrong place on one of their charts.

Look at glasgow.
You can see why they needed sll the tests. Theres like 50 schools.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 07/09/2020 10:56

They've got Camarthen in the wrong place too. Last time I checked it wasn't anywhere near Brighton Grin

Augustbreeze · 07/09/2020 11:23

There's a really worthwhile programme on R4 at the moment, about lockdown effects/returning to school for disadvantaged families."My Name is ... Julie" (an articulate educated single mum)

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/09/2020 11:52

Yes I heard bits of that; it was very good. (in between planning and giving ds who starts back tomorrow, a great deal of seconds and thirds of an early lunch.)

I think the thing about the sandwiches at lunch time is that they're going to be starving!

The brtus group who run that website are the polar opposite of us4t. Most are extremely anxious about schools repopening and now the spike in cases. Many are C vulnerable or parents of c vulnerable children or children with Sen. I joined the fb group to see what it was about.

How would you respond to someone who said

“I bet it’s the adults, there won’t be any SD going on in staff rooms”

I’m so Angry

I’d reply and say our staff room was closed due to Covid so that’s complete rubbish!
NeurotrashWarrior · 07/09/2020 12:04

I would reply that in order to protect both other staff and pupils, and comply with guidance, staff aren't allowed to use the staff room.

We are allowed max 8 in at a time. I think there's over 100 staff who could access it. We didn't really bother prior to Covid tbh.

Keepdistance · 07/09/2020 12:14

Surely schools arent having parents in to listen to reading.? !

Augustbreeze · 07/09/2020 12:22

I've joined it too @NeurotrashWarrior, will see what it's like (and maybe correct their geography!)

Keepdistance · 07/09/2020 12:57

Rather steaming. DS had to pile stuff up instead of carrying it into reception. Im not even sure they are collecting it themself. I just dont want everyone elses hands on my kids stuff Angry.

I understand it may well happen but this is just unnecessary contamination.
Another kid had to be taken (grabbed) by the teacher and one was holding their hand.

Augustbreeze · 07/09/2020 13:11

Travel announcement at 3.30 today apparently. Bans on flights to certain destinations or just more "advice"??

Augustbreeze · 07/09/2020 13:15

And see here - Government are rationing tests in low risk areas - parents not to test for sore throats etc:

Great.....

MrsHamlet · 07/09/2020 13:31

A message from Angelina - she's been banned for a week!

cheesecurdsandgravy · 07/09/2020 13:39

@MrsHamlet why?!?!

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/09/2020 13:49

Shock why?!

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/09/2020 13:52

I'm in the extremely fortunate situation to have an extra pair of hands this year. Which is extremely welcome. It's just hit me the RA says that's one person too many in the room . Ffs.

HarveySchlumpfenburger · 07/09/2020 14:13

Why’s she been banned for a week?

Return to school going well in Liverpool by the looks of it.

WTF?!

What for?!

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/09/2020 14:19

Oh god the afternoon play on r4 is school based. Pre Covid obvs.

NeurotrashWarrior · 07/09/2020 14:19

Academy trusts etc....

Keepdistance · 07/09/2020 14:52

Several seem to be primaries

Keepdistance · 07/09/2020 14:54

Thing is if kids are even half as susceptible or contagious. We are letting them go in door places wiyh no masks and PT.
