You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom

Not wanting to go back to a workplace where you can’t be 1m apart, and one of the first replies is to ask if they’re in a union!

Not those Marxist workshy leftie rabble rousers that everyone hates, surely ...

One rule for one.. another for teachers.
Piggywaspushed · 18/08/2020 19:13

C4 looking at school reopenings now : pointing out that nothing is very different!!

eitak22 · 18/08/2020 19:13

Gin Wine for all the wonderful teachers in here dealing with the government shambles of results. So much respect for that!

Yes, very interesting that it brings out the sympathy for them. No lists of all of those that are unable to SD etc.etc.
Piggywaspushed · 18/08/2020 19:15

And they are mentioning South Korea! Go C4!

Ickabog · 18/08/2020 19:19

The difference in responses is remarkable. Granted it's a short thread at the minute, but there's also no rude posts mentioning all the jobs who carried on despite the risks.

Iamnotthe1 · 18/08/2020 19:20

@Piggywaspushed

They're going after the Government for the PHE closure as well. Seems someone at C4 is pissed off! 😂
FrippEnos · 18/08/2020 19:21

We can only hope that someone takes notice.

Hercwasonaroll · 18/08/2020 19:33

I commented on that thread, couldn't resist.

I saw.

You were a lot least ranty than I would have been.

FrippEnos · 18/08/2020 19:47

Hercwasonaroll

Sorry the word should be sensible not ranty,

I however, would have been ranty.

Popping by for my daily exam officers' moan!
Today we had no further update by lunchtime as to whether or not we were getting results tonight (the latest said CAG only on Thursday) so I especially went into school to pull together a report for each student showing their CAG, as wasn't sure I'd have time tomorrow and wanted to check it was working correctly in peace, not with SLT around.
This evening we're told that the highest of the CAG/algorithm grade will be issued at midnight tonight by the boards as usual.

So that was a complete waste of my afternoon!
But applied qualifications only look like they're being finalised next week.

WhyNotMe40 · 18/08/2020 20:01

Oh Blankety, I really feel for you and all the exams officers in this entire shit show.

Hercwasonaroll · 18/08/2020 20:02

Fripp I toned down my original post so as not to appear rude!

Piggywaspushed · 18/08/2020 20:20

blanket do you know if schools will ever be able to see the moderated grades for their centre for every students and every subject,or only the ones which were higher than CAG?

Gin for you!

FrippEnos · 18/08/2020 20:26

BlanketyBlankAgain

AQA have just sent an email update through saying that they are all set and the results will be the official ones and on time.

MrsHamlet · 18/08/2020 20:54

I've a friend in university admissions. She's messaged me "kill me now". Last week everyone was calling and asking about what they had to do to appeal; today's all people trying to get in on offers they hadn't met until yesterday.

Don't know anything for sure (it all changes every few hours anyway!) but I think certainly in the near future we'll only get to find out the ones that were higher... (We'd sort of worked out where we were likely to have some grade 5s moved to Us internally after we saw how the A-levels worked, so glad that's not going to happen now at any rate.....)
Mistressiggi · 18/08/2020 21:01

I wish someone would physically restrain me from looking at the local them for us page on Facebook. It makes me Shock and Angry and Sad and Hmm within about a minute.

MrsHamlet · 18/08/2020 21:05

Now you've said that, I had to go and look. The cringy photo in the superhero comments nearly made me bring up my Rishi Dishi.

MrsHamlet · 18/08/2020 21:05

Costumes, even

Piggywaspushed · 18/08/2020 21:15

There is only one member of Anyone But Us in my county on Facebook. Which is good.

noblegiraffe · 18/08/2020 22:37

I now understand the Ofqual algorithm and am officially the coolest person in the room.

This step by step explainer is pretty good rpubs.com/JeniT/ofqual-algorithm

Although note in Step 3 it says “ Add all those up and we come to 38.4 students getting at least a B.” and it should say 32.6

And the shading on the graphs in Step 8 is the wrong way around.

Because that really confused me for a bit.

WhyNotMe40 · 18/08/2020 22:38

I kneel before your greatness Cake
