You are most welcome to this school staff support thread to get us through stressful times. It is meant for school staff. Baiters and bashers can jog on somewhere else.

If you are NOT staff and just have a general education query please start your own thread.

You can play here only if you are a member of one the following groups-

-ABBA - anti bashers and baiting association
-SWAB - school workers against bashers
-SWOT - school workers opposing teacherbashers
-STARS - schoolworkers together against ranting + slurs

Other requirements for staff room entry include the ability to find the staff room, the ability to find a clean mug in the staff room, knowledge of the photocopier codes, and the ability to sniff out where the toffee vodka is hidden.

If you are fed up with cakes and biscuits there is now a cheeseboard on offer

If you come with a stick to beat us with then please do so elsewhere and not in the staffroom

That's not funny Gav. CONTROL your children.

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2020 17:16

Jenny Harries needs to tell MN that is it their fault and they shouldn't be letting their kids out to gather in. Desist.

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2020 17:16

Stop shouting at the journalists. You aren't in parliament.

NeurotrashWarrior · 02/07/2020 17:17

Thankswhy.

I've sobbed all day, not about this at all, other stuff. First time since the 20th March.

Being with a toddler this long under these circumstances and wfh has just really started to get to me. I feel suffocated.

WhyNotMe40 · 02/07/2020 17:20

It is suffocating. My youngest asked yet again today if we could go to soft play or the swimming pool :(

HipTightOnions · 02/07/2020 17:20

“Schools are very well-regulated environments”. “Passing someone as you walk down the corridor is a fleeting contact.”

They have absolutely no idea, have they?

I am shouting at the telly.

pooiepooie25 · 02/07/2020 17:21

I am shouting too.
Any journalists going to mention teaching staff and the risks to them? Anyone? Anyone?

Saucery · 02/07/2020 17:23

And yet we’re accused of not caring about children. Many of us are living with all the issues this is presenting our children with and doing the best we can, just like everyone else. Flowers
I thought it was just Early Years who thought teachers shut themselves in a cupboard at going home time and had no life or family of their own. Turns out it was the parents who thought that too.

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2020 17:26

Jenny is basically saying teenagers will bring the infections into school because of their feckless parents, right?

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2020 17:27

OK, Gavin. Consider yourself very told off. The only person you have not allowed any time for a follow up question to was an Asian female.

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2020 17:28

No education journalists today???

WhyNotMe40 · 02/07/2020 17:30

Flowers Neurotrash

SleepymummyZzz · 02/07/2020 17:32

Literally no one is asking about the safety of staff! They really don’t give a c**p about us?!

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2020 17:33

Freddie form Schoolsweek so there is an ed journalist!

He didn't ask about teachers either...

phlebasconsidered · 02/07/2020 17:39

Piggy, me too! I'd love them to show my cramped 1950's room with a tiny washbasin, miniscule cloakroom, pathetic ventilation and 2 loos each for them all. That don't even have lids. That i'll be cleaning. But no, let's always show a new build in a leafy suburb.

monkeytennis97 · 02/07/2020 17:46

I was shouting at the tv too. Ffs what about the adults in these buildings?!! It's our workplace it should be 'Covid secure' like all other workplaces. Can the unions do anything?

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2020 17:57

Jenny, at one point said schools are 'like a workplace'.

Jenny, love, they ARE workplaces.

The BBC rolling headline is 'government unveils plans to safely return all pupils to school'

Fairly easy to fix that for them.

NeurotrashWarrior · 02/07/2020 18:00

I turned him off, he was especially patronising today?! A soft kiddy voice?!

NeurotrashWarrior · 02/07/2020 18:02

Thanks why, back at you Thanks

Piggywaspushed · 02/07/2020 18:03

Beyond brilliant

eitak22 · 02/07/2020 18:07

I'm so glad I didnt watch it as reading here is making me angry. They literally dont care about school staff and our families. Not going to have people to fill in if we die or leave in droves.

pooiepooie25 · 02/07/2020 18:16

I had to switch it off and do something else. Did no one ask about the safety of staff????? I can't get over this . It's carnage

pooiepooie25 · 02/07/2020 18:17

And any mention of SEND children?

NeurotrashWarrior · 02/07/2020 18:31

Yes separate advice for send schools. Which doesn't hugely help mainstream.
