I've not done my planning yet. Someone tell me to get my arse in gear please. Got English, guided reading and a ton of admin stuff to do.

Sigh.

Back tomorrow. I sorted and ruthlessly tidied my classroom before we even finished so I have only been in for an hour this holiday, to speak to a new teacher I will be working with.

Still in same year group, we had a push on long term mapping of plans in staff meetings last term and already have medium term ones to use and tweak as we go.

New guided reading so no idea what the boss wants for that yet.

We've been promised some classroom time tomorrow so will plan next week's work then.

Not looking forward to my new class at all, but that's another story.

MsAwesomeDragon · 31/08/2017 15:49

I've been in school all day today, printed a load of things, put up a couple of displays, sorted through the endless piles of stuff that "could be useful" from the previous occupant of my classroom who has just retired.

I have yet to do any planning Blush.

Back to school tomorrow, for a riveting inset, I've seen the agenda and I can't see anything exciting at all!

PumpkinPie2016 · 31/08/2017 16:39

Well, I've done no schoolwork so far today as went out with DH which was lovely.

Just ironed my clothes for tomorrow and will sort a few more bits later. Then will try to get an early night!

Dolceandgabbana14 · 31/08/2017 17:27

I haven't been in to school but my role has changed this year and I'm not class based any more Grin

I have spent today sorting through boxes and boxes of old planning... found stuff from as far back as Autumn Term 2007 Shock

I've got a huge pile of resources to take into school but I don't know if I'll have a cupboard or any sort of storage space to call my own.

Cakesprinkles · 01/09/2017 06:40

All medium term plans tweaked and put on intranet 😇 (Am not changing any topics this year so that helps) have got my new teacher planner and a whole load of new pens, so over the weekend I will be adding everything I can think of to that. My classroom looks like a bomb site though so this morning's job is to sort all that stuff out Shock and then do all my resource printing this afternoon, ready for Monday.

BlessYourCottonSocks · 01/09/2017 23:00

Commiserations to all who were in today. I've done fuck all.

I should really have gone in today to sort out new classroom - but frankly I was clinging to my holiday mood by the skin of my teeth. We're back Monday.

It's now too late to do anything in school and I'm vaguely regretting it.

mineofuselessinformation · 01/09/2017 23:17

Cottonsocks, I have spent the last week diligently ignoring emails from school....!

BlessYourCottonSocks · 02/09/2017 00:34

LOL. I did log onto school email today about 3.00ish and was horrified to find how many people had emailed me today (colleagues).

I had a hideous sense of panic that I'd missed an Inset day, and that everyone else was in school. I had to phone a friend to check. Which then put the wind up them, cos they weren't in school either!

(We hadn't. Or at least - no one important emailed us to tell us we had Grin)

elephantoverthehill · 02/09/2017 00:43

I'm kind of concerned that I have had so few school e-mails! After reading this thread I did have to check that we weren't back today as many schools seem to be. I once had a HoD who didn't turn up on the first day back (Inset). I tried to cover a bit for him i.e. not mention it but it was discovered and he was still driving back from a holiday abroad, completely oblivious Grin

PumpkinPie2016 · 02/09/2017 07:51

It was INSET day yesterday and it was actually ok - may new colleagues, usual meetings and sorting stuff for Mon Smile

My head felt fuzzy after it all but I'm actually looking forward to the year ahead now! I'm taking on some extra responsibility this year and although I think parts of it will be challenging, I'm quite excited about it!

I might feel differently after next week haha Grin

My two 'Fast Jobs That Make Me Feel Purposeful And Organised' are

  1. Sketching out a (very) rough overview of any SOWs
  1. Downloading a load of vaguely related stuff on TES.

Done.

MsAwesomeDragon · 02/09/2017 10:11

We were in for inset yesterday. It was ok. Loads of talking, the exam results look promising, but we have to wait and see how they compare to other schools. There was talk of Ofsted, which isn't a surprise as it's been quite a while since we were inspected and we were on tenterhooks all last year expecting them but they never turned up, so probably this year, hopefully soon ( while I'm still keen and haven't had time to fall behind with marking/homework)

I'm feeling slightly more prepared for Monday now, although I still haven't actually planned any lessons BlushHmm

BlessYourCottonSocks · 02/09/2017 18:32

Ah - you see I did all my planning at the beginning of the holidays so I'm feeling smug.

What I really needed to do was the displays, the admin, and the setting up of classroom. (And quite a lot of photocopying) Not worried about what I'm teaching - just the fact that I'll be teaching it in a disorganised and dreary space.
