I've not done my planning yet. Someone tell me to get my arse in gear please. Got English, guided reading and a ton of admin stuff to do.

Sigh.

All my SOW and plans are on the system from last year, so it's a case of updating and reviewing rather than writing from scratch, but it's 10 year groups worth so will take a while 🙄

SureIusedtobetaller · 29/08/2017 09:50

Ok, today I am ON it. If I get shit done today I can have a couple of days of relaxing before I go back. Anyone with me?
English, guided reading and going to get the homework and spellings done. Have chocolate biscuits.

I'm with you! Just back from shopping so now I am going to sit down and get it done!

Also have chocolate and copious amounts of tea to help BrewCake

jennielou75 · 29/08/2017 12:39

I am in my classroom. Found the cleaners have managed to move every piece of furniture to the opposite side of the room!

theluckiest · 29/08/2017 14:17

I am moving classroom (& yeargroup from 6 to 2 Shock)

Have planned the first week with my yrgroup partner but other than that....

I'm going in on Thurs to sort my new room.

I've thought about doing some planning. Grin

I'm making a teepee for my reading corner. It's got fairy lights and bunting. It's fab. And that's totally important, right?

RogerLimasOldestDreadlock · 29/08/2017 14:19

I've let the side down. DS1 is out till 3. I've managed to fold the washing.

I was going to batch cook. But can't start on that till the shopping gets delivered sometime later.

Maybe I'll plan later...

Cakesprinkles · 29/08/2017 15:34

Have had my nails done. Am now watching a film with DS. Tomorrow I'm at work so I'll have to be effective Grin

PumpkinPie2016 · 29/08/2017 15:42

I'm doing ok with work but seem to be so slow Sad I think my brain is still on holiday!

At least I have started though so that's something!

Acopyofacopy · 29/08/2017 19:36

I was actually in school today!
I had a cuppa in the staffroom, briefly looked at some SOW changes and did a small rejig of my room.
Good job I hadn't done any planning yet, the SOWs changed a teensy bit, lucky me!
I have also looked up all of the holidays and crossed them out in my planner. Priorities, priorities!
Tomorrow I will really start planning.

jennielou75 · 29/08/2017 20:04

Glad I went in as it was awful. I was in for a week at the beginning of the holidays and it was like I had done nothing.

It is going to rain tomorrow, so I have no excuse but to crack on. Sad

MsAwesomeDragon · 29/08/2017 21:53

I took dd to the zoo today, it was lovely! And I've had a brownie planning meeting, so we know what the brownies are doing this term.

Still in denial about actually teaching anybody anything next week. INSET on Friday, so that's when I'll start properly thinking about it. I have done some display stuff, so my classroom is going to look great!

mineofuselessinformation · 29/08/2017 22:05

... on the plus side, I've moved rooms and thrown out mountains of rubbish, have put up what displays I can (and relined all display boards ready for more). Dc2 and I cleaned years worth of grime off the whiteboard (a roller one, how lovely!) and the IWB. (I could see the writing from someone who was in the room two years ago in places....)
I've also moved the desk as around to how I like them and done the seating plans for the classes I have lists for.
I haven't looked yet to see what time we will have in our two inset days for personal planning, but there should be some, so I'm ignoring it for the moment. Smile

SuffolkNWhat · 29/08/2017 22:09

I'm in for the next two days to sort out the classroom and my office. I've been very deliberately leaving it until this week as I struggle to "switch off" so need time to get into holiday mode which is sorely needed for my health.

Planning was loosely blocked out in the last week of term and some will be fleshed out on the INSET days but we tend to plan only 2 days ahead (Primary).

PinkPuffin · 30/08/2017 00:48

I have found my people! Secondary English here! I have re-read the exam texts and have been busy reading the textbooks for the A level course I'm teaching (not English). SoW all on shared drive for KS3 and feel I've got the hang of KS4 (and only have bottom sets). Spent two hours mucking out my classroom last week, going in again tomorrow. I am determined to be tidy and organised this year!

PumpkinPie2016 · 30/08/2017 11:06

I've done nothing so far today! I've put the washer in, sorted my nans list office done and now waiting for the hygienist.

Must get on this afternoon and do some more! Only tomorrow off and then back to school Fri - starting to panic now! Confused

indulgentberries · 30/08/2017 11:17

Oh God.

mineofuselessinformation · 30/08/2017 20:43

I've bought dc2 some stationery if that counts....? Grin

PumpkinPie2016 · 31/08/2017 07:45

Morning All Grin

My last day off today Sad back to it tomorrow!

Might persuade DH to go out for lunch with me as a break from the work and so I feel like I've had a treat !

Lucycat · 31/08/2017 08:18

I don't have my own classroom- secondary geographer so assumed I won't get lost! I'm heading in today for an hour or so to print off bits and pieces and to see if the rooming has been done for our timetables yet 🙄 I've a feeling that I might be in 13 different classrooms like I was last year.
Luckily the dds are teenagers so they sleep while I'm meant to be planning year 11 units of work.
We aren't being given any sort of planner this year (budget cuts) so I feel the need to explore Amazon... any ideas as to which ones are best? 5 period day, 2 week timetable ideally not too thick?

PumpkinPie2016 · 31/08/2017 08:34

Lucy I use pirongs as you can personalise them for your lesson requirements. Might take a few days to arrive though. I have an A5 one this year which is not too big.

I hope for your sake that there are not too many rooms on your timetable. I'm lucky that I only teach in one room - used to hate swapping and changing when I worked in my previous place.

Lucycat · 31/08/2017 08:51

Thanks for the planner suggestion- we have 2 inset days next week and I don't write my classes into a planner until a couple of weeks in- there's nothing more irritating than filling in class lists and then a new student joins your class.

Off to look at Pirongs now 👍🏻😁

SureIusedtobetaller · 31/08/2017 11:48

Morning all.
Last day off. I will have some time in my room tomorrow so I'm leaving anything not done now.
Actually not feeling horrible about going back at the moment but I bet I don't sleep tonight!

RogerLimasOldestDreadlock · 31/08/2017 13:20

Afternoon all!

My condolences to those who go back tomorrow.

I've now planned two whole days! Bought myself a bunch of pens, resisted the urge to buy a personalised planner from Pirongs (because I use iDoceo on my iPad and wouldn't actually use a beautiful paper planner!).

I have also tidied up DS1's desk in the kitchen and bought a fuck-ton of pencils to try to avoid the meltdowns about homework. Might work for a couple of weeks.

I've also synchronised the term calendars and sorted out his INSET days. And sorted out the nursery requests for the random meetings & parents evenings.

I've made some 'dump bags' and done an inventory of the freezer stash. Still need to do a couple of batch cooks.

Feeling pretty pleased with myself. Might even plan a third day this evening.. 🚣

Acopyofacopy · 31/08/2017 14:41

My brain feels like mush! I have managed to plan 1 day so far. Why does it take so long?
