Guess an Ugandan tour won’t be planned anytime soon? 😬

ETA: For those not on X, the Ugandan General’s tweet was:

In order not to be construed as being opposed to His Majesty King Charles III of the United Kingdom, whom we deeply revere, Uganda hereby withdraws from the invictus games. We shall not participate in anything that does not have His Majesty's approval.

The decision, announced by the chief of defence, comes just two months after Uganda said it would participate.

I am the one who was basically called thick by a couple of posters. It's not me who is not engaging in good faith.

No one has called you thick ???

Where?

So Charles has made it clear countries should boycott a charity that helps veterans? This is awful.

We desperately need a professional head of state. Not an inherited family who bring their family disputes into their sphere.

Perhaps you can reference where Charles is purported to have said that rather than make things up . . .

No one has called that particular poster thick, anywhere on this thread. I have no idea why this is a road they want to persist in going down. It’s questionable as to whether they are posting in good faith and it’s getting tedious.

Enough derailment - mad or bad it somewhat reflects the amount of respect that some commonwealth countries hold for the RF. I spent many years in a couple of former colonies and there were images of the Queen all over. Many had had British teachers and praised their links even if the history is chequered .

TheSparklyGoat · 11/09/2026 19:12

I’ve reported this thread because I didn’t call anyone names or insult anyone and don’t think anyone else has either.

Sounds perfectly sane. I can see why Harry would want this man on side.

shanghainights · 11/09/2026 19:15

As to the lead post they are not dancing in the streets in Uganda. They don't have money to waste on certain things no matter how beneficial they may seem. They have obviously heard about the visits to Ghana and Colombia and have observed the outcomes of these. They have heard about the wannabes and they want to keep on the right side of King Charles ( as they see it ).

shanghainights · 11/09/2026 19:25

Watch out for your sizzlers Harry! 😉

The thing with clarifying statements is that they are only really helpful if the person you are clarifying a statement to is willing to listen and accept the clarification.

All over the world, people will happily be clarifying or pointing out where someone may be mistaken and the person is convinced they are right or make up their own narrative.

I am sure that KC has experienced people giving their interpretation of events out into the world for forever. Putting out a clarifying statement for every one would not only be exhausting but absolutely impossible.

The King seems to put out a clarifying statement when it is very important to do so (e.g. for him, his family or for the country and those who live here) and he did that this week with H&M.

On other occasions I am sure it would be like shouting into the wind. Absolutely pointless.

@GoldThumb your comment makes zero sense

Pigeon talk.

I’m unable to find evidence of anyone insulting you. Unless you are the Ugandan government.

The prickly one has form for claiming to have been insulted.

My view is that it is an attempt to provoke a spat derail.

There is one poster active on the RF forum at the moment whose behaviour is classis pigeon chess.

I just wish she'd flounce.
