I think it’ll have absolutely been explained to Harry, and do think there is absolutely a chance that it was assumed Harry understood it and explained it to Meghan.

It seems that Harry’s knowledge of how the British royal family works was grossly over estimated by everyone around it.

That seems to be at the root of the majority of their problems.

I've no idea why she remained so uninformed.

I think you're right. It was a bit of a whirlwind romance, long distance for a while. Perhaps she didn't quite get the measure of him.

If we can understand it and we aren’t royal, why the hell can’t Harry and Meghan. They really should do what the Scandinavians do and insists on Prince and princess school. Then this shit wouldn’t have happened.

She was offered tutoring by Susan Hussey and by Sophie, she turned it down.
You'd think at the very least you'd learn the national anthem of the country you're moving to if you're marrying royalty! It's not that hard.

And the Queen allotted her a sort of equerry (I know that’s usually for men) to help her but she rejected him too. The arrogance is beyond belief - and then to claim she hadn’t been supported!

The difference is that it is compulsory in Sweden - you can't be a a working royal without undergoing the mandatory orientation programme of mentoring and tutoring that takes 6-18 months. It is a mixture of studies and mentoring that covers things like

• workings and organisation of the Royal Household
• Swedish History - military ceremonial and cultural roles
• the Royal Collection of art etc
• etiquette and diplomacy
• foreign languages
• University studies in political science, government and politics, role of parliament and government, Public Administration at state and local level.

Prince Daniel (former personal trainer and gym owner) did an 18 month programme.
Princess Sofia (former model and reality TV star) did 6-8 months.
Chris O'Neill (works in finance) didn't do the programme and has never been a working royal or had a title. Although he is invited to family events.

I think that's excellent, but in all honesty, it hadn't been needed before.
Diana was brought up on the Sandringham Estate, mixing with the royals. She knew it all. Sophie was very keen to learn and spent time with the late Queen.
It's only Meghan who appeared resistant to learning.

I don't know that an equerry is for men? I worked with a guy who had been an equerry to the Queen. An An equerry is a personal assistant and military officer who helps a senior member of the royal family. They manage daily schedules, coordinate public events, and travel with the royal person on official duties.

Anyway - Meghan was apparently "insulted" to be offered the services of Lt Col Nana Kofi Twumasi-Ankrah to assist her

Camilla and APB didn't decide to get married - their hand was literally forced by their parents placing an engagement announcement in the Times in March 1973 without their knowledge and without APB proposing. Like Diana, the couple were unable to back out without causing a huge society scandal. They married 3½ months later - she was 25 and he was 33.

It happened when the Queen Mother had used her influence to get Charles sent on a long naval deployment from February to November 1973 to get him away from Camilla.

I wonder now with the benefit of hindsight whether the Queen Mother also influenced the Parker-Bowles/Shand's in announcing the engagement so that when Charles returned Camilla wasn't available.

Yes, I think you’re absolutely right about all this. I suspect M is the sort of person who won’t ever accept that other people might know more than her…about ANYTHING!

I think W&K are very well matched. I can't imagine him with another woman.

Its well established that Meghan doesn't listen to advisors. So why would she listen to courtiers or family trying to explain?
