I do hope he includes the bit about how Spencers threw a very naive 19yr old to the wolves media wise, all for a bit of fame and limelight for The Spencers.

Maybe he'll demonstrate some regret that neither of his older sisters stopped the whole thing in the first place? I'm sure a quiet word with someone at BP to say she would not be cut out for the whole circus would've helped.

Her older sister had dated Charles! A woman who’s prepared to date her sister’s exboyfriend is not going to listen to the same sisters telling her not to date him.

(the fact that Charles was prepared to date his ex’s younger sister is something that gets glossed over but is a good indication he’s always been a very selfish man. Bit like they try to pretend Camilla was the only woman he had an affair with /he’s been faithful to Camilla since he divorced Diana.)

"Charles always tried to be there for Diana – until that black night in August, 1997."

As the late Queen so famously said, 'recollections may vary....'

Diana might not have listened but someone in KC's circle might have. If one of the Spencers had said 'oh no she was very naive and not cut out for the whole thing' then surely another appropriate aristocrat may have been presented to him? The Spencers knew her personality, after meeting what a handful of times surely KC had no idea.

He's really scraping the barrel squeezing the last drop of money he can make out of his dead sister.

He says there will be revelations - wouldn't be surprised if he makes some up.

I do hope one of his many exes or his allegedly NC dc writes a 'memoir' about him.

Yes! Now that would be very revealing - I would be more interested in reading that than any memoir he writes!

I imagine he is not a very easy man to live with...

I really doubt the revelations will be anything earth-shattering - I mean, what is left to reveal? Diana's childhood, marriage, affairs, divorce, subsequent relationships and death have been laid bare by dozens of memoir writers, picked over by the public and endlessly analysed by the press.

There will probably be some random childhood memory where he is holding a grudge. Something like Diana didn't allow him to play with her dolls and he is still angry about it now. 😆

Charles (Windsor)'s family had been presenting him with appropriate aristocrats for years. His uncle, who he thought the world of, was desperate for him to marry Amanda Knatchbull, but Charles knew his own mind. Diana presented herself as a great match for him, not considering that she would be unable to keep up the pretence of being a robust, outdoorsy, hunting-type of woman forever.

MargoLivebetter · Today 08:51

LOL, I wonder how much he will be being paid for his recollections! Another classless grifter cashing in on a dead relative. Definitely won't be giving him any of my hard earned cash for his memories.

Coinkidinki · Today 08:52

No idea why my post has been hidden, I was just saying that Charles's family had been encouraging him to marry for years, but he chose Diana because she'd presented herself as a perfect match for him.

MrsBeltane · Today 08:53

He must be short of cash.

PeonyPanda · Today 08:54

His speech at the funeral was brilliant. But he’s a massive hypocrite and didn’t help her when she was alive. He should have pointed some of his anger at himself too.

Presimably listening to Harry’s experience of writing a tell-all (when they visited) has been part of this decision. Which is bonkers because surely Harry would have tried to talk him out of it - based on what Harry’s book did to his reputation? Maybe he did , and ES is cracking on anyway. But maybe Harry was actually positive about it?

But interesting to see whether ES gets markled. Will HAM come out for or against in advance, or will they wait and see how it’s received before deciding. Feels like it’s another high profile spat on the horizons, whereas William will say nothing but it’s a fairly certain bet that he thinks this is awful.

TrunkElliot · Today 08:57

@Gloriia
Diana's grandmother, the late Ruth, Lady Fermoy and the late sainted Queen Mother were the driving forces behind the marriage. How on earth do you think Diana's sisters were going to be any match for that pair of viragos?

Ratherhaveacupofteaandabiscuit · Today 08:58

I wonder if this will affect Harry’s plan to make a documentary about his mother?

Would it take the wind out of his sails by saturating the current market or help by provoking interest?

Earl Spencer is the definition of hypocrite considering his treatment of his sister both before and after her death, his vengeful empty promises at her funeral and his treatment of women in general as a serial shagger.

Diana has been sainted by many due to her tragic death but whilst she had numerous good qualities she had equally numerous glaring faults.

TrunkElliot · Today 08:58

The book is being published on 12th September @PeonyPanda
Harry's book is irrelevant really.

Jimsaidpeoplearestrange · Today 09:01

why shouldn't he. she was his sister.

I agree. But my main concern is for William who Seems to get forgotten in all the tragic Diana/poor little Harry narrative. He hasn’t gone on and on about losing her as Harry has. I hope that philandering hypocrite ES considers William too in whatever his dodgy memoir reveals.

Brilliant in a literary way, I agree, but not appropriate for the occasion. It was a personal attack and highly divisive at a time when feelings in the country were volatile. He’s such a sleazy man himself that I can’t take indignant moral sermons from him seriously.

I think the interesting thing will be how many buy it, it wouldn’t happen if there wasn’t an appetite for it. I won’t buy it but I’m sure I will read threads about it on here!

I will only read it if I can buy it from a chazza!

I’d like a charity shop to have the benefit from me, not that money-grabbing sleazebag.

Totally agree.

William knows far more about his mother than Harry and is more protective of her privacy.

He must wish he never had a brother at times, whilst equally missing the dysfunctional but loving brother he thought he had.

Having experienced huge personal betrayal by the people I loved most in the world myself I think I know a little of the shock and pain of the situation but at least I wasn’t betrayed on the international stage with my privacy invaded again and again for profit.

I sometimes wonder how William stays sane given the stress from his various family members.

I presume Catherine must have to talk him down at times.

He would have to be made of stone not to want to have his say (or even thump) the lot of them.

I really hope Charles fully understands the jewel he has in William and doesn’t place him under any further strain by allowing Harry to manipulate.

This book is yet another stressor William doesn’t need.

Remember his "rousing speech" at her funeral. Blaming the RF for everything.
Conveniently forgetting he turned her away in her hour of need.
I hope hes proud of himself 😡

No but now you mention William he is the one who publicly repeated the Diana is paranoid narrative and silenced his mother . Yes there were issues with how the interview was obtained but there was a lot contained in that now silenced interview that was still true and pertinent ( ‘there were three of us in that marriage from the start )
