Richard Eden article - explains why ARO was launched too early?

Wasn't sure whether to add this onto an existing thread, but felt it was distinct enough to merit it's own, and didn't want to resurrect a really old thread.

Richard Eden claims he was about to release a story about ARO, that's why Meghan launched ARO on Instagram apparently prematurely.

It's certainly an explanation why it was launched and then nothing else has happened. I've never understood why any brand would launch with absolutely nothing to sell. The IG account is losing thousands of followers every week, and there still nothing. No teasers about the NF show, other than other accounts mentioning the jam we can't even be sure that will be a potential product.

From a marketing standpoint it's like a How Not To Launch a Brand masterclass.

"I contacted Meghan’s office in March to inform them that I planned to run an item about her plans to launch a lifestyle company called American Riviera Orchard. Meghan was apparently so desperate for the news not to appear first in the Daily Mail that she immediately launched the Instagram page for her company, complete with a glitzy video."

She could have waited and used the DM for free publicity. It was an odd move to roll out the IG to get ahead of what looked like a good news story. Quite baffling.

EverybodyLovesString · 25/10/2024 00:47

They have an obsession with getting ahead of the media even to their own detriment. They announced they were stepping back from the royal family before they talked to the Queen because The Sun was about to splash it. They ended up not getting anything they wanted as a result of that.

JingsMahBucket · 25/10/2024 01:26

Richard Eden isn’t a reliable source for any information whatsoever.

BemusedAmerican · 25/10/2024 02:38

But he explains what to me was a very foolish move.

Vespanest · 25/10/2024 07:26

The daily mail makes shit up but in this case it's about people who are litigious. Did Meghan launch earlier than wanted is speculation but it can be guaranteed that there is a paper trail that the mail knew of ARO before the launch. Its the unintended consequence of Harry and Meghan legal cases if you threaten or proceed with legal action if what is written is not true then silence infers there is a element of truth.

Absolutely agree, but even a stopped clock is correct twice a day.

And we have long been wondering why on earth ARO was launched and then literally nothing has happened for months now. The IG account is haemorrhaging followers and it's become the butt of some jokes.

His account gives us 1 reasonable, and believable, reason as to why.

Indeed!

I don't see why they would feel threatened by such an article. I doubt most people would have taken much notice, it would have been forgotten about shortly after and it wouldn't have detracted from the actual launch in any way.

However, I'm inclined to believe it's got some truth to it as it's genuinely the only valid reason I've actually seen as to why they jumped ahead and 'launched' when ARO was so clearly not ready.

That guy is a clown..he is absolutely obsessed with meghan markle.

Overtheatlantic · 25/10/2024 12:56

So many salty Brits are obsessed with Duchess Meghan, and it’s a shame.

CyanBalonz · 25/10/2024 14:23

It’s beyond obsession. Stalkerish behaviour and deliberate nonsense propagated through the eyes of a certain type of white person who overly identify with a royal family that is not fit for purpose and with a white right wing media that works hard to disguise how totally absurd that family are. The future is not good for the overly pasty crusties. Only Prince Harry did the work on himself. Meghan and Harry Netflix documentary went viral around the world and Spare is now in the Guinness book of records.

Salty sardines indeed.

Procrastinates · 25/10/2024 15:04

So for those thinking this is all just him being obsessed or those of us posting being obsessed I ask seriously what do you think is the reason ARO was launched so hastily?

There's obviously a reason behind it being all made public when it wasn't actually in any way ready. So why do you think that was?

TheCraicDealer · 25/10/2024 15:23

There have been rumours about a lifestyle brand for ages (there were news stories about them trademarking for loads of random stuff/products years ago, Lilibet’s Closet, all that)- with her history with The Tig and the Spotify and Netflix contracts not being renewed or producing anything of note, it made sense that this was the next avenue for her to explore. One article from him would hardly have been earth shattering and would have been overshadowed by all the “Where’s Kate?” stories and articles about the King’s illness that were running at that time.

It would be very strange if they announced a project so apparently embryonic in it’s development just to get ahead of what was a a bit of a non story. If it’s true, she/her team must really regret not regrouping and tweaking their plans, especially with all the hassle of the trademarks that’s happened since.

hepsitemiz · 25/10/2024 16:37

Ooh, what's a "salty Brit" please? Am I one???

It's like a salty crisp but with a union flag waistcoat, and an added dose of racism Hmm I believe. Anyone who is even slightly critical of their saintly Meghan is only that way because racism, obviously 🙄

Snorlaxo · 25/10/2024 16:50

At the time people assumed that it was to distract from William presenting an award. Rumour at the time was that The Tig was returning iirc

It’s a bold claim and I’m surprised that she didn’t leak to People magazine instead so they were the ones to break the story.

I always wondered about that.

They could have simply done nothing, but at the very most, they could have said, "we intend to step down as senior royals, but are agreeing privately with our family how this occurs".

It’s the weekend 🙄😆

Puzzledandpissedoff · 26/10/2024 10:05

Whetheer this is true or not it's a bit like their foolish "Megxit" announcement ... as in the media were going to break it so they had to go public themselves ... when they could perfectly well have kept schtum, ignored the speculation and chosen a better moment

As so often though, tthat would have taken judgement and integrity and they appear to have neither, so it just looks like one more terrible choice to go with all the rest

MrsLeonFarrell · 26/10/2024 10:41

I find it hard to care about the timing of the launch. But I'm fascinated by why they thought the name was a good idea. It's such a mouthful and it seems out of keeping with everything else they have named (thinking websites here not children).

Parry5timesbeforedeath · 26/10/2024 10:47

I’m not a fan of Duchess Meghan. Nor am I white, racist or British. Sorry the blanket salty Brit cant be waved at me.

I am highly critical of MM because her behaviour time and time again demonstrates she is petulant, foolish, slightly nasty, definitely self aggrandising and self interested and it is somehow fascinating to watch a human self-sabotaging car crash repeatedly crash through her own stupidity.

ThePoshUns · 26/10/2024 10:48

Self identifying as a Salty Brit.
Might name my lifestyle brand as such.

ThePoshUns · 26/10/2024 10:50

Not keen on salty sardines I prefer a little sauce with mine.

Interesting OP, OP and judging by how the Harkles conduct themselves not entirely without merit I would suggest.

Most of the world doesn’t like the salty sardines rotting away on an island that tried to big itself up by promoting a white institution at the expense of a biracial women. We see you. And we don’t like what you represent.
