Didn't see an existing thread, so apologies if this is a duplicate

Catherine appeared with William today in Southport to speak to the families and first responders affected by the horrific knife attack.

Good to see her back at work.

Completely agree, it’s so good to see her back at work.

Very colour coordinated

PigglyWigglyOhYeah · 10/10/2024 18:21

Lovely to see them both.

Like her silhouette in this outfit. The colours are great and the skirt length is perfect. Not that keen on the blouse. William suits these colours.

"Their meeting with the victims' families was held completely in private and not announced publicly until they had left."

From The Mail.

I don't really like the matchy-matchy colours, but do think both the length and the silhouette of the coat suit her a lot.

I suppose meeting only a limited number of people, and not having to greet crowds (even in the open air) might be a result of what chemo can do to the immune system

MrsLeonFarrell · 10/10/2024 19:17

I suspect she'll be doing this type of event for a while. Things that aren't too public or taxing and which she can cancel last minute.

I thought it was striking she first attended Trooping and then Wimbledon, both events where she can sit down for the majority of the time.

I think it’s a dress from a picture I saw earlier

My heart goes out to the families affected by this awful tragedy and their lovely teacher and community. Very kind gesture for Kate to visit them and glad to see her looking so well.

life is tough for so many but this tragedy was appalling beyond words

PrettyFlyforaMaiTai · 10/10/2024 19:23

Aww it’s lovely to see her back out meeting the public again. I love her coat. I’m guessing the scarf isn’t a scarf but a pussy bow from the blouse beneath? Or else it looks a little air stewardess 🤣 but otherwise she looks very elegant.

I love that they’re matching. I guess it’s this show a united front. I’m really loving William’s stubble/beard 😍

Weird my post disappeared. Is it verboten to say I don't like the engagement ring?

Diana's? I never liked it, even in the 80s. I love big dress rings but not for everyday because they just get in the way.

What's wrong with geography teachers ?
didn't he start reading geography at uni ?

Absolutely nothing wrong with geography teachers.

JADS · 10/10/2024 21:56

Good to see. I'm not sure about the matching outfits, but burgundy is a good colour for both of them. Quite like beardy William.

Thedom · 11/10/2024 08:47

Great to see her back in an official role, what a difficult meeting that must have been, huge respect to them. Those poor families , how do you ever move on?

Thedom · 11/10/2024 08:50

I think William's beard doesn't look so great anymore, it looked good when he had a tan and was dressed very summer casual.

I think he looks gorgeous in this video though, blue shirt and a slight tan, he looks very like Diana in some of his expressions

My thought too. Nothing wrong with geography teachers. He's not a geography teacher though, is he? My grandfather wasn't a geography teacher (retired naval officer) and he worse the same outfit.

Point really is that if his wife is going to the lengths she is to dress well, the least he could do when next to her is make an effort. He did not make an effort with that outfit.

Lifestooshort71 · 11/10/2024 09:17

Men wearing jumpers under smart jackets always look a bit naff - 'Will you be warm enough, darling, should you wear a vest or praps a nice jumper?' - and his stubble just looks as though he could do with a good wash. Surely it would be a beard by now if he was serious about it? My son goes through phases of facial hair but not intentionally growing a beard as such, just not shaving and that's what W looks like. Hey ho. I usually thoroughly approve of his expensive suits, etc....

WolfFoxHare · 11/10/2024 09:33

I think he probably chose something deliberately unintimidating/informal to meet the families of those little girls. A smart suit might have felt a little stuffy.

LaMarschallin · 11/10/2024 10:50

Carnationstreet7 · 10/10/2024 21:47

Absolutely.
But I don't understand why he looks like a geography teacher. Do, say, language teachers have some subtle tell? French teachers wearing berets, a Breton top and a string of onions, perhaps?
And besides, aren't leather elbow patches the traditional thing for male teachers to wear?
And are science teachers not allowed to wear a jersey under a jacket?
Or burgundy coloured woolen items?
The looking like a "geography teacher" trope is a bit childish and trite, imo.

A teacher friend of mine told me the following joke:
I'm a PE teacher. I can teach running: <blows whistle> RUN!
I can teach jumping too: <blows whistle> JUMP!
I can even teach geography: <blows whistle> JOG!

Anyway, the thread seems to be about celebrating the fact that a woman who has had cancer is well enough now to be able to return to work.
What sort of jersey her husband wears probably isn't the most relevant issue.

Oh I do kind of wish they wouldn’t do that!

How “subliminal” do their stylists really think that is. It’s really quite a sledgehammer statement.

Nice to see her up and about though.

It’s quite a traditional look. I don’t mind it. I prefer things to be functional and comfortable.
