The royal family

I feel sorry for Charles at the moment

Having had my Christmas and New Year completely spoilt by the partners of 2 of my DC's not getting on and it all kicking off, and the boys now not talking to one another, I can sympathise with Charles and what a difficult position it puts a parent in, and the rest of the family. Even worse for him as its all so bloody public!

He'll be fine. He has experience of weathering his own scandals.

PeekAtYou · 05/01/2023 19:16

He knew this was coming and if I were him then I'd rather know now then have to wait longer.

BradfordGirl · 05/01/2023 19:22

Charles did his own tell all being openly critical of his parents and his ex wife.

LittleBearPad · 05/01/2023 19:22

As his son seems to be imploding I imagine he’s very worried and sad.

He seems to get on fine with Anne and (despite the age gap) Edward. It's just Andy who he's rumoured to dislike, though neither of them publicly slag each other off.

Does he get on with them? They don't seem that close.

I think he is close to Anne, they are often together and chatting. Edward is 16 years younger but I think they get on fine.

Xenia · 05/01/2023 19:31

I think most of the country are sorry for him. I am. The main thing he can do is say nothing to anyone about any of this and try to keep channels of communication open with Prince Harry

Hbh17 · 05/01/2023 19:36

I feel sorry for Charles too - I believe he loves Harry, so this must all be painful and worrying.
I feel sorry for Camilla, William and Catherine as well.

CriticalAlert · 05/01/2023 19:53

I'm concerned about harry TBH. This is all weird. I read that he'd been listening to a 'psychic' who told him Diana was with him? Does Harry really need the money for this tell all stuff? Why can't Charlie just pay him off? And if William did smack Harry, I think Harry would have smacked back, harder.

PollyEsther · 05/01/2023 19:54

It's called reaping what one sows, OP.

I have absolutely no sympathy whatsoever.

superdupernova · 05/01/2023 20:03

Getting on with someone and being close are two different things. I get on with my older sister, she's lovely but we aren't close. We speak 2 or 3 times a year.

StaunchMomma · 05/01/2023 20:10

I don't.

From all angles it appears he has 'raised' the boys as a royal first, father second. I wouldn't be at all surprised if he hardly knew them.

pictoosh · 05/01/2023 20:14

Don't. He appears to be an unpleasant, peevish, spoiled man. Save your sympathy for someone nice.

Wonnle · 05/01/2023 20:17

Do you honestly think he

A gives a toss about any of it
B reads any of the crap that's been written

mrsharrisgoestoparis · 05/01/2023 20:38

I think Harry has really said far too much about the 25 people he killed. I honestly think his life could be in danger in the future at some stage

That's a good description of Harry tbh.

MistletoeandBaileys · 05/01/2023 20:47

I feel really sorry for them all too. It’s got to be absolutely devastating to watch it all unfold and be unable to do anything.

Harry has never had to take accountability for anything in his whole life. This book is literally a joke. He’s going to end up a very lonely bitter old man with only himself to blame.

I do wonder will the palace make a statement. Or has Harry been panic calling his family today to try and spin things. I would be very surprised if someone in Buckingham Palace hasn’t managed to get their hands on the book. I’m sure they are well versed on the whole book.

I haven't spent any emotion on him either.

Boulshired · 05/01/2023 20:53

I feel sorry for Kate, I think Charles and William have prepared themselves for this and at times did not help. I feel sorry for Harry (although less than yesterday) as this is not going to provide the closure he is searching for. He wants a legacy but surely anyone with status will not trust him.

He's survived wanting to live in Camilla's underwear, marriage counselling from upstanding charitable servant and best mate Sir James Savile, accepting millions in cash in carrier bags and hissing at his lackeys over titchy tables and substandard pens in front of the world's cameras.

He's a trouper.

booboo82 · 05/01/2023 21:28

If I was Charles and wills I'd be sending the sas over to retrieve Harry asap ! As he really needs some help! And some time away from Megan wouldn't go a miss !

I agree. It was so irresponsible to put that in the book. We know only too well how terrorist groups view things like this.
