see that Insider article is from 2018. Post-covid and Her Mag's 'favourite son' debacle I don't see the country having much truck with closing down the economy for nearly 2 weeks or having holding parties to celebrate Charlie's accession. It'll probably all be very London centric anyway, much like the proposed Jubilee stuff ( or what i've seen of it so. far) . Frankly, if my local council stump up (my) cash for Jubilee celebrations when there are actual, important things to spend money on I'll be very peed off.

Roussette · 11/01/2022 16:34

Yes, it is 2018 article, I just found it interesting everything that has to be altered, changed, etc and the massive cost to do so!

It's going to be a huge upheaval.

A very valid viewpoint @derxa. But why not say so? Why just bitchplop?

Every time I read a post where someone is assuming that Scottish independence is a done deal I will repudiate it. NO NO NO And over 50% of Scots agree with me.

Who on this thread assumed it ? Not I (said the goose).

I happened to mention it. But gave no indication as to whether it was likely or not.

AllThePogs · 11/01/2022 17:08

I think there will be an outcry when they cancel TV programmes and expect everyone to mourn for two weeks. She is a very old woman.

AllThePogs · 11/01/2022 17:09

Didn't support for Scottish independence increase when William and Kate did their Royal Train Tour to Scotland during a lockdown?

Malariahilaria · 11/01/2022 17:20

If they cancel the main channels for 2 weeks, who cares? It's not like the 70s when that's all we had. Everyone will simply pop over to netflix, amazon prime etc. The only losers are the main channels and the ad revenue which has sunk over the past 10 years or so. Media consumption isn't the homogenous mass timed thing it was.

My MIL (75- worships the queen, hates Andrew) with all her queen plates and tea towels will wallow in it no doubt but most people have more pressing concerns like the 50% increase in fuel bills

PlanktonsComputerWife · 11/01/2022 17:24

That made me laugh.

Fair enough

Some old people will care. My father does not have Netflix or Amazon Prime. He will grumble a lot...mainly to me.
Puzzledandpissedoff · 11/01/2022 17:32

So is this Judge Kaplan going to make a decision on whether VG's case should go ahead or not?

Malariahilaria · 11/01/2022 17:39

@allthepogs ah fair enough, my sympathies for that situation. I just meant it won't as all encompassing as it might have been when the three channels had a completely captive audience.

AllThePogs · 11/01/2022 17:40

This is interesting. Andrew should have had the bells at Westminster Abbey rung for his birthday. But to avoid the public unhappiness they changed the rules confining the bell ringing to The Queen and Prince Charles - Monarch and Heir.
The RF talk about tradition, but they change it quickly enough when it would cause problems for them.

AllThePogs · 11/01/2022 17:41

@Malariahilaria no I agree. It won't affect me really. My sister will complain about her soaps.
But there was a surprising amount of complaints after Philips death.

NiceShrubbery · 11/01/2022 18:17

AllThePogs Yes that's very interesting. Now they can ring only for 2 people, soon just 1, who's unpopular. Will the public tolerate another arbitrary rule change when they decide to amp it up again to preserve their millions post-QE demise. I think not.

To pp, yes hurry up Judge Kaplan. I predict decision Thurs or Fri.

Malariahilaria · 11/01/2022 18:24

The RF change the rules whenever it suits them. Changing their name to Windsor was pretty quick when it looked risky to look too German. They're like a like Corp saying 'we simply can't break the rules on payrises above 1% because those are the rules' then awarding the ceo £8m in bonuses due to exceptional circumstances.

DuncinToffee · 11/01/2022 18:30

I can't find any new information online.

Likewise.

DM thinks the sun shines out of HMQ's arse but she wasn't impressed with the wall to wall Philip circus and that I suspect was a mere dry run for the big one.

Oh, I know Angry

'Pretty soon' obviously actually means 'mañana' in judge-ese.

Vapeyvapevape · 11/01/2022 20:31

Is this wait for a decision a good or bad sign ?

OverByYer · 11/01/2022 21:04

I’d this is him making a decision quickly, dread to think how long he takes to ponder

SpaceshiptoMars · 11/01/2022 21:19

Perhaps he has a team of contract specialist lawyers looking up all the implications. Or perhaps he's just making PA sweat just to prove he can!

DuncinToffee · 11/01/2022 21:34

The ultimate sweat test Grin

Roussette · 11/01/2022 21:46

I find it odd.
I presume PAs lawyers are throwing everything they've got at it? Would there be a chance for them to influence anything?
