Apparently....a couple of weeks ago. Good to know that such an expensively refurbished property won't be standing idle. Nice that she'll be so close to HM and PP - and her Mum - not so sure about her Dad! Grin

Nice for them. Hope someone has worked out a commercial rent.

Trumplosttheelection · 20/11/2020 22:46

She's close to Harry. Probably mutually beneficial.

EdithWeston · 21/11/2020 08:45

They ought to be paying a fair rent (unless H&M are covering the rent anyhow) as only senior working Royals get free accommodation.

Or perhaps this is a sign that the York princesses (either/both depending on their own wishes) might be taking on more Royal duties?

Sunflowergirl1 · 21/11/2020 08:48

OH GOD...please not. I wish the whole vile York family would get out of public sight and live peacefully. Andrew has been trying to persuade the Queen and Charles for years for them to be working royals as they have no other use in life

Ihopeyourcakeisshit · 21/11/2020 08:53

Given that the York girls haven't done many Royal duties so far, I think it's highly unlikely that they would be stepping up now just as they are starting families etc.

Ouioubagettue · 21/11/2020 08:58

I think Eugenie is adorable.

ajandjjmum · 21/11/2020 15:16

I think the two daughters seem remarkably balanced young women - particularly when you take into account their parents.

Someone will need to step up now that Harry's done a runner, and HM's cousins are getting very elderly. If Eugenie has agreed to do so, that can only be a positive thing imo. The only thing I don't like about it is that it was what Andrew wanted - but B & E shouldn't have to carry the blame for him.

No one needs to "step up", we have far too many work-shy, parasite royals living large off public money as it is.

The Queen and the immediate heirs are the only people who should be publicly funded and who should be working royals. Queen, Charles Camilla, William, Kate. The Cambridge kids once they turn 18. Done.

If workshy Will and Kate weren't so extraordinarily lazy and neglectful of their duties (Kate's record of neglecting her Patronages - at least two of her Patronages she's literally never visited once since her original appointment - is shameful and would be a scandal if the press weren't so biased), there wouldn't be such a burden on other royals, and we wouldn't be reading all these articles in Tatler, etc. about how Kate is exhausted and overwhelmed by the stress of having to do two entire Zoom meetings per week now Harry and Meghan have left. Harry and Meghan were only ever minor royals, it's ridiculous that they were forced to shoulder some of William and Kate's workload, and even more ridiculous that people are speculating if the York princesses will take some of that workload now they're gone. William and Kate's "work" has always been minimal; why do they so desperately need minor royals to help them with the stress of occasionally doing a Zoom, going to watch Wimbledon, taking their own kids to school, or any of the other non-work things that count towards their embarrassingly low engagement numbers?

Ouioubagettue · 21/11/2020 18:18

Hang on, this is a thread about Eugenie. What has a rant about Kate got to do with it? Hmm

RubyViolet · 21/11/2020 18:28

Pizzaexpress, are you ok hun ?? You seem really angry about someone you don’t know.
I am pleased an empty property is being occupied. The Queen, Crown Estate owns Frogmore. I am sure Meghan and Harry are really grateful to have someone else paying the rent for them. Every little helps.

Do you know them ?
I've met Beatrice. She was doing a royal engagement - no, they don't receive money / aren't funded, but she still does them. She was actually injured - had slipped down the stairs and hurt her ankle, but she still came out an spoke to all the people who had traveled to the function. She was running a bit late as it happens, as she was spending "too much time" talking to everybody. She was absolutely lovely.
I'm not one to write of a young adult because of who her parents are. Judge everyone on their own actions.
However, I don't think either of them are short of a bob or two now.

Several of those 'work-shy, parasite royals' are in their latter years - obviously including HM - and are still turning up to events and doing their duty. You may not like/agree with the system, but while it exists, I certainly respect those who are working much longer than could be reasonably expected. Will you still be rocking up at work events at 80+?

Of course M & H should have done their bit. They took the advantages of a royal lifestyle, both materially and in terms of public respect. They should have shown commitment, or had a clean-cut break away - which is the bit they seem to be struggling with.

You do know that Zoom meetings have only been happening of late don't you? Prior to that, and hopefully again before too long, royals take part in many visits, and make lots of people smile - even if you have/would never be amongst them.

Disagree with the system by all means, but don't slate those that have made the commitment, just to fit in with your narrative.

I hope they're paying commercial rent.

Mummy195 · 23/11/2020 07:28

H&M did not do a runner, they were chased out. They did not take advantage of anything, they were working royals. They asked to help, but were told no. They are now just like the York sisters. They have cut ties with the firm, not the family, and I don't recall them being disowned either (they are paying their own way, so not sure what you meant here).

Strange how there is no outrage regarding Frogmore now. When the then senior working royals, H &M were preparing the place, there was no 'Oh, how nice for them to renovate a falling down house and put it back to full working order'.

No scrutiny now on how E&J are going to pay rent - though I believe H&M did already pay rent in advance, I can't remember, but I am not hearing any breakdown of how much they will be paying etc. as demanded of H&M.

Yes met one of them..not personal friends at all

The point being is that they are minor royals and unfortunate to be part of the ghastly duo Andrew and Fergie....enough said.

I have found it utterly distasteful as to how Andrew has campaigned for years with the Queen for them to be senior working royals, u like their cousins Zara and Peter. Some of this has been about having all the wrap around and status it brings including extremely expensive taxi service called police protection.

It doesn't bother me what they do as private citizens but frankly seeing PA trying to get them status and do royal duties when taking 8 holidays a year is ridiculous. This is against the Prince of Wales wanting to slim down the monarchy to a core.

They should be able to live in peace and not in the public eye

ajandjjmum · 23/11/2020 09:14

I'm glad the house is being used - and they're probably the best placed to go there. Close to her parents and HM and PP.

I can't stand Andrew - although I accept that he hasn't been tried and found guilty of anything. But it is not Eugenie's fault that her father's an idiot.

I wonder if there's been an agreement for Eugenie to take on more of the 'royal' visits, as the older relatives are obviously not finding it so easy - thinking of the Duke of Kent at the Poppy Day ceremony.

Disagree that H & M were chased out - they chose to go because the fairytale wasn't panning out as they expected.

i really can't see why they need more royals. W&K do very little.
surely they can manage to do more.

Ouioubagettue · 23/11/2020 10:01

Please can we keep this thread on track and not derail it with the Sussexes.

Ouioubagettue · 23/11/2020 10:01

And also not make it a Cambridge bashing place.

LadyEloise · 23/11/2020 10:02

@PizzaExpressWoking
What charities that Kate is a Patron of has she not visited ?

@Mummy195
I don't believe H&M were chased out.
I think most people were very happy that Harry was happy with Meghan.

Samcro · 23/11/2020 11:43

@Ouioubagettue

And also not make it a Cambridge bashing place.
but if people are going to post about PE doing more work then the cambridges come into it.
ajandjjmum · 23/11/2020 11:45

Maybe - but certain people will always take an opportunity to Cambridge bash. Spoils the threads.

Mummy195 · 23/11/2020 11:51

@LadyEloise
I was not really referring to the general public, but to the rags - who in turn influenced a lot of people (who now keep saying "we were so happy for them" etc.). So maybe the word to use is 'hounded' out. There is a small very vocal minority, but in truth most people do not dislike them or 'feel disappointed in them'. If the criticism was levelled out to all the royals, equally relentlessly, with miles of column inches for everyone, then I think H&M and everyone else would just see it as par for the course of being royal, it's the singling out that is the major issue here. It's quite possible that there were also some serious problems internally within the palace.

The charity @PizzzaExpressWoking was referring to is Action on Addiction. Kate had not visited them for 8yrs. That video where they discuss it has been erased from the internet, but there is this one video on YouTube that was not edited. Though I believe she has infact acknowledged them before.

@Ouioubagettue
Not too sure it's bashing the Cambridges to answer that they should take on more work. They are singled out in this case because other senior royals have been known to work hard and there is the age issue (don't think anyone will be complaining about PC or Anne anytime soon considering all they do, the rest are quite old).

When someone bashed the Sussexes on this thread, MN let that stand ( I assume they thought it was topical, since the thread is about Frogmore), you said nothing while posting here, but now you suddenly object when ppl defend them?

Thank you @Mummy195

Divebar · 23/11/2020 12:01

Frogmore House wasn’t falling down as a PP has said. It was several cottages that were occupied by members of Household staff who were required to move out before renovations began.
