The royal family

What will William & Kate's titles be...?

This will only be announced on friday morning.

I think they will just make her a princess in her own right. (I know it's not the norm, but i think the royal family can make up any rules they like re: titles.) They do it in scandivia, so i think we will have a Princess Catherine.

Apparently Will & Kate don't want clunky old duke & duchess titles as it makes them sound too old. also they have gone to great lengths to make sure kate is constantly referred to as Catherine...

Orf the D & D of Milton North, even better. [cgrin][cgrin]

jewelosopher · 28/04/2011 17:48

I mean the Duke and Duchess of Milton Keynes. Very good. Middle England will be pleased in a roundabout way.

breatheslowly · 28/04/2011 17:59

[cgrin] at jewelosopher.

I think it could be Hereford as Prince Charles is building them a house there. They are great, I'm very excited as this is a genuine once in a lifetime do. Plus my hubby is a footguard so it's extra exciting.

Jewel Grin Grin Grin

Princess William of Wales is AWFUL. I hope they're the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

BoffinMum · 29/04/2011 06:58

Given my social dominance up here, I like to think I am, in some ways, the Duchess of Cambridge, filling the vaccuum for a grateful public. I don't need a younger and prettier rival . She can have Cambourne if she likes, the new build place out west with the big branch of Morrisons and the brisk Fenland breeze. [cgrin]

BoffinMum · 29/04/2011 06:59

Grumpy, what is a foot guard?

meditrina · 29/04/2011 07:16

BoffinMum - it's a type of soldier (the sort whose ceremonial dress is red tunic and busby). William is to be married in his Irish Guards uniform.

When not on ceremonial duties, they have an armoured and mechanised infantry role. The Irish Guards have just returned from Afghanistan.

meditrina · 29/04/2011 07:20

The Duke of Cambridge will forever be a pub, to me.

Jewel - if you really want to please Middle England in that way, then it has to be Swindon!

BoffinMum · 29/04/2011 07:20

That is well British and cool. [cgrin]

BoffinMum · 29/04/2011 07:20

Duke and Duchess of Sluff Slough?

meditrina · 29/04/2011 08:04

It's Cambridge (plus 2 subsidiary titles).

sephrenia · 29/04/2011 08:05

Just confirmed that he'll be Duke of Cambridge

HRHCaveMum · 29/04/2011 08:05

Just been announced - Duke of Cambridge & two other titles that I didn't quite catch. One was an Earl.

sephrenia · 29/04/2011 08:06

X-Post, sorry meditrina Smile

meditrina · 29/04/2011 08:08

I didn't catch the Earldom (possibly Strathearn?), and Baron of Carrick-Fergus.

Iwishiwasaprincess · 29/04/2011 08:09

Yep, Duke of Cambridge, Earl of Strathearn and Baron of Carickfergus.

Not bad for before breakfast!

sweetiesue · 29/04/2011 08:16

Well I live within the area of Strathearn, so I'll pop the kettle on (you never know when they might pop in)

BoffinMum · 29/04/2011 08:26

Interestingly, DS2's school trip to one of the colleges this week was suddenly cancelled as the Queen was coming up here (Cambridge). I wonder if Wills will be our next Chancellor - his grandad is about to retire from the role, if he hasn't already.

MrsKwazii · 29/04/2011 08:28

Yay! Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, am inordinately pleased Grin

misshospitalcorners · 29/04/2011 09:29

The Duke & Duchess of Cambridge - sounds a bit ordinary to me. Perhaps it suits them.

bronze · 29/04/2011 10:16

How utterly boring
I knew it would be but I lived in hope

Romilly70 · 29/04/2011 13:11

they haven't as yet referred to them by their titles...
i am very disappointed she is not Princess Catherine - i know it is not protocol, but they could have made an exception
