It's clearly an organised, deliberate effort for someone to make multiple posts like this.
I saw similar on FB, where a woman posted on multiple pages/groups across a big area. She must have raked it in. If one in a hundred people send a little, it adds up to a lot!

Hi all!
Well that was quite something, thanks so much to our gallant reporters and our fantastic Nightwatchers for being so quick to spot what was going on there.
It seems to be 'an internet thing', not just us, but it has left us with quite a backlog of reports so we are cracking on with them now. Apologies for any delays in 'normal' reports and also thanks again for being on the alert.
It's not always easy to be suspicious of people who appear to be in need, but we do have to keep our eyes open (even while we offer support etc) and of course never give more of ourselves than we can afford.

There's nothing wrong with wanting to help someone out, but I think everyone has to be a little bit more cautious - indeed, perhaps even cynical - when responding to posts/posters such as the one(s) last night.

Actually I think it highlights that the majority of trolls and scammers know when to hit MN when there is less moderation
