I always feel awful about reporting these, but I'm not sure about this one

Is it still the case that MN don't pay for moderators to work at night? They rely on unpaid volunteers? Mental if it is.

pawpaws2022 · 13/02/2022 00:16

It's bonkers when you see threads like that and then people that are really struggling

I listed some greggs stuff on Olio (too good to go bag) and a guy who is homeless messaged for it. I asked if he needed anything else and he said a drink of water Sad
He came with his dog, and walked 4 miles to get here. Ended up giving him a 2l bottle so he could refill it and some dog food and he was incredibly grateful

Honestly I think mnhq need to pay people overnight (I would do it) or stop yhreads from being created by new posters overnight

Users have been saying that for years.

It's very unfair that the paid staff get to just sign off at peak times and leave the grunt work to volunteers, who may or may not be available and online. As far as I remember it being, volunteers didn't even work on a schedule to make sure someone was always about.

I really hope the volunteers get some sort of compensation, at least.

AlDanvers · 13/02/2022 06:21

On a website with the amount of traffic it now receives it absolutely ridiculous that mumsnet doesn't have 24/7 paid staff.

LilacShimmer · 13/02/2022 07:22

Never read it, but I’d like to beg someone with skips to help me de clutter my house, get rid of junk etc, and tidy. We have too much stuff and woul put a Nick Knowles programme to shame.
I’m not seriously begging.
But I do need to do it.

I imagine some people are desperate for help, but others are chancers
