So...i was supposed to be getting a Russian blue kitten but sadly it fell through 😪. Next week I am picking up this little baby boy and I can't wait 🥰🥰🥰. Isn't he gorgeous? ❤️

My friend's soul cat was named Tepes - Vlad the Impaler's family name!

He’s gorgeous, Eewok is a great description! Being part Maine Coon, be prepared for lots of chattering to himself, they love a natter!

Out of interest, did they say how he’s part MC? Because most good MC breeders insist that their kittens are neutered to prevent cross breeding. Am not trying to be narky, it’s just that there can be specific problems with MCs (such as HCM), so genetic provenance is important to know. I took mine on knowing that he has one gene for HCM.

He is a rescue boy. The lady i got him from does a lot of local work, my mother in law took me to see all the cats and kittens she has (so so many and they are all loved and very very friendly) she hand rears all the babies. I fell in love with him, well i fell on love with all of them. She keeps all the "broken" ones as she calls them 😪. She rescues all the animals that are hurt too. ❤️.

I am surmising he is a cross, vet check on friday next week possibly will tell me more?

@Flannelfeet - not surprised you fell in love with him, nor falling in love with all of them 😹.

MC can be prone to a few inherited genetic issues - HCM and PKD spring to mind. If you have the funds, it might be worth getting tests done. I think a lot of breeders use Langford vets at Bristol University - you can take swabs at home to send to them.

My gorgeous boy is a rehome - I took him in when he was 11 months old (he’s now 2.5 years old). He was originally intended to be a King/stud, but testing revealed he carries one gene for HCM. Not as bad as carrying two genes, he could still effectively be used as long as the queens were clear, but the breeders pride themselves on both parents being clear of all possible genetic risks, so they immediately had him neutered and decided he needed a forever pet home. I took him on knowing this slightly increased risk, he’s worth it! Plus, it’s been good to make my vets aware. They’re normally pretty good with knowing that MC’s can be predisposed, but it’s made me feel better that we’re all aware.

With regards to the Cat Tax, the more photos the better! Hope we get to see plenty more of him, he really is gorgeous 😻

He has settled in very well, he will be getting the sniper as soon as he is old enough. I got a lovely photo of him earlier 🥰❤️

Wait until he gets bigger and you get 7kg of cat jumping on your bed at 3am 😂. I’ve actually got two of them, I swear they’re going to finish me off one night 😹
