My cat only goes over the fence to take shade under the neigbours tree, never wanders to far from the house.
The other day she went to the neigbours garden and within a minute I heard cats fighting sounded so bad and then a bang against the fence.

I looked over the fence and she looked shook up with a bit of fur sticking out by her cheek.
She wouldnt come back and just laid where she was.

After 1hr she came back I saw a tiny bit of blood on her check but didnt see anything else ( although it was hard to see as she doesn't like it)

But i also saw a small mark on her nose so thought it was from that so I just quickly wiped the area with a damp clean cloth all good.

Tonight I noticed an indentation on her cheek and pinkish mucas on it
On looking closer she has a cut on the cheek which from what i could see looks to be roundish and a bit deep.

She is already booked in at the vets for her 6 montly health check on Saturday but im not sure i should leave it untill then just incase it gets infected. I've cleaned as much as she would let me.

What would you do clean it daily and see how it goes or try and get her seen today just in case ?

I think normally I would take her asap but I need to be at home today ( weds) for a delivery of tiles that were due yesterday so a bit stuck as not sure what time they will arrive.
Maybe tomorrow eve or weds ?
But I feel bad leaving it.

Boiled salted water, bathe 2-3 times per day.

Yes i done that tonight but she fought me so it was very breif but I will do again.
I think the other cat may have been in next doors garden and mine surprised it or vice versa.

I saw the cat tonight lookng over my fence so I didnt want her in the garden so I moved it way by a small bit of water at it.
He used to come before but haven't seen it for a few months so I think im going to have problems again with the fighting.

Shes laying down so I was to take a photo its bit wilirsecthan I first saw.

it looks bigger but that's where the hair was loose/ off but you can see inside a hole bit deep inside.

Appreciate she’s booked in for Saturday but today (now) is Thursday - I’d be getting her in soon as they can see her given potential for infections

Send the vet these pictures and get an emergency appointment tomorrow.

That will turn into a nasty infection if you don’t get it looked at ASAP.

That needs looking at asap. Likely an antibiotic injection and painkiller. It can't wait until Saturday.

Ooft yes - she needs to see the vet today! Is there a neighbour who could keep an eye out for the delivery while you go?

Yes going to have to get one for this eveing more like as im waiting for a already delayed delivery and theres no one else here today .
If it turns up earlier today maybe they can fit her in on demand.

God shes got out and gone door was slightly ajar and it swang open with breeze.
Calling her so she may come back for food as workmen not here at moment so no noise which she hates.

Vet cant do today or tomorrow
ive asked them to call me if any appt come up at all but she may not even be here.

But if they could do am tomoorow Am that would be good.

They wont give antibiotics without seeing her. Just have to wait and keep fingers crossed and bath itvwith salt water at mo.
Looking where it is she is lucky it is not her her eye.
Going to call shop to get update on delivery butvyhey are using a courier as heavy goods so they have to call them.

Hmm, a little unimpressed that your vet won't fit in an emergency like an abscess on the face, it's not like you're wanting a last minute appointment for something comparatively routine.

She may well hate this, but I think you need to keep her in until she gets to be seen by the vet. Apart from the possibilities of opening it further, she's more likely to get all sorts of nasties infecting it even further.

Im thinking i may just take her later tonight to out of hours and have to pay over £100 for the privilege but I will if nothing comes up for the morning.

Just spoke to vet iits £130 out of hours so may do that tonight
i just went online to see book an appt theres 9.20am Friday morning was going to book it but gut saying go to out if hours tonight.

Our old cat was a fighter and we had this lots of times, the first time we left it for a few days and tried to self-treat, and it turned into an infection/abscess so definitely try to get somebody to see to it as soon as possible.

One of our cats had a serious abscess develop over a bank holiday weekend and we ended up paying the best part of £1000. You need that seen to as soon as possible. Definitely today.

They cant do today so im going to pay £130 fee for out of hours tonight which is amytime after 7pm i think as she will come in by 8pm probarly maybe ealier .

Vets should have emergency slots set aside for things like this, it’s shocking that they’re making you wait and then pay an OOH fee for something they can treat in minutes.

I know its very stressful but its worse as she got out so i cant even try and demand to be seen as shes not back yet 😬

That definitely needs looking at as it could turn into an abscess. Could you go to a different vet?

Still waiting for delivery said be here by 11.30 latest but I dont think they will but regardless
Cat is still not back home shes probarly laying under a tree or bush elsewhere calling her etc but not home yet .
I could kick myself as I thought door was closed but it was slightly ajar and off she went.
Im stressed with the works and delivery and now this on top of it all
workman is not coming as nothing to do untill delivery arrives so it will be tommorow so works delayed and sick cat !
If delivery comes and cat comes home i definitely will call vet and try and demand to see somone.

Yep cats are very stubborn as well i recall i licked her in my bedroom for few mins so i could catch her with a carrier
My window was just an inch open and its hard to push open, 5 mins mins later went to find her she was on my garden decking below unharmed still not sure if she meant to jump or just pushed window and fell.

Delivery just came but no Cat yet
so just have to wait. So 1 out of 2 for now.

Shes just come back 15mins ago so i shut all windows and doors gave her food.
Then she proceeded to try and open the window and go off again.

Called vet no cancelations very busy.
I said i think its bad that there is no emergencies ones she said there are a couple but popeple have to call at 8am in the morning (she can see them just cant unlock and give out now)

But they may agree to see her at 8.30am before consults start at 9 but still got to call first thing, she can see there is a slot for 9 and 10 am as well.
Think shes been washing it as fur looks wet gone dry and is covering wound more.

Poor little thing. Injuries from cat fights can get really nasty quickly. I have chlorohexadine wipes in for my cats and always give cuts a little wipe with that as it’s like cat antiseptic. My mum recommended it as her cat gets into fights a lot. If there’s a pets at home near you it might be handy until you can get her to the vets.
