Silly things cats do.

She leapt from my bed to dangle from the top of the curtains as she heard the birds had landed on the guttering.

No warning, no preamble, just a dangling kitty clinging on by her claws looking very sorry for herself when she realised she just had to let go.

I woke up everyone in the house at 6am as I was laughing so loudly at her.

How about yours?

Oh bless her she looks a cheeky madam.
One of mine growls at the window cleaner.
A sound I have never heard before.
I looked around wondering where the sound was coming from.

Weeellokthen · 03/07/2026 11:56

Mine used to furiously lick carrier bags. The blue ones were his favourite with tesco a close second.

Thai is crazy 🤣 🤣

Would he lick any colour? And was it just carrier bags or totes as well?

I bet she loves being able to see through the windows after they've been though.

Mine loves to lick plastic. Plastic of any kind but sellotape is like crack to her.

🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

The sticky side?

I’ve also got a plastic licker but he miaows and waits for me to either stroke him or scritch his back just in front of his tail while he’s doing it.

I feel like I’m taking part in some weird and slightly grubby fetish. 😳

Any side, she's obsessed.

Our cat really, really loves our neighbour’s girl cat. She hates him, and hisses at him, but he’s besotted. Today our neighbour told me that he had come in from the garden a few weeks ago to find our cat and his girl cat having a fight in his upstairs, with his boy cat looking on from on high. Apparently he had to hoover up chunks of fur. I had absolutely no idea and am mortified. (Our neighbour really likes our cat, fortunately, but bloody hell - he’s got people round for a barbecue tonight and our boy’s been popping back and forth for pets - possibly food tbh - now stinking of smoke.)

shellyleppard · 03/07/2026 22:40

@MagpiePi my boy cat loves having his back patted...will literally wait for you to start 😅

Fgfgfg · 03/07/2026 22:50

We have a cat who, when DP gets the vacuum out, presents himself to be hoovered. DP has to take the brush off and vacuum the cat with the metal tube bit. Cat will lie down and roll over to have each side done and he likes it when his tail goes up the tube. Other cats either flee the room and hide from the shouty machine or look on in horror.

Purely the plastic ones. 😂

eurochick · 04/07/2026 08:59

I have a cat that likes to chew plastic. Furry little idiot. And the other one prefers pats to strokes (dogcat).

Floogal · 04/07/2026 09:23

It always makes me chuckle when cats 'make puddings'.

Used to have a cat that would bite your nose. Weird things is, she was being friendly (even though it hurt).

If I stop scritching he’ll stare at me till I start again

One of my cats steals pens. Then he kicks them under the washing machine or fridge. We periodically pull them out when we can’t find a pen anywhere.

Cats are just amazing, full stop!!’

I love their back legs when they’re stretching, or cleaning them…. and they just stick them out and stretch their toes apart making them look like chicken legs…. It’s all just adorable! ❤️

I’m constantly sending my husband photos of our cat doing something that I think is ridiculously adorable and he just doesn’t get it 🤣

Cats are just the best pets in the world ❤️❤️

(even if they are really rude, aloof and ignorant at times, but I accept that as them just knowing how superior they are) 🤣

ChaosIsMyNorm · 04/07/2026 11:29

Cat 1 has a shoe fetish, damm near climbs in visitors shoes, shoves her head in them and huffs the foot stink. Huffs wet hair too. Also has a vendetta against the dog beds and will randomly pee on them every now and again just to remind us she can.

Cat 2 loves nothing more than scraping her teeth on your hands and we have a huge cardboard box in the dining room because it means she can sunbathe in the window with ample space. But shes chewing the box and is going to fall through it soon

shellyleppard · 04/07/2026 11:32

@MagpiePi yep mines the same... weird little creatures but we do love them

Came here to write the same! My cat would squeak happily whenever I got the vacuum out and throw himself on the floor next to the nozzle. Never knew any other cat that would do that.

We moved into a new house last winter. One of our large packing boxes remains unpacked in the middle of our bedroom because cat has decided it is his bed. He steps across to it from our bed when he’s had enough of being stroked when we’re about to go to sleep.
Obviously we can’t unpack this box until a new or different bed takes his fancy. He has many beds and sleeping places but they are in a strict rotation. I can’t wait for this one to be abandoned for something else.

Hallywally · 04/07/2026 13:36

Oh god I love cats so much! They’re so weird and cute and annoying! 😂😂 Mine dropped a mangled pipe cleaner in my glass of water! 🥺

Exoniansince1999 · 04/07/2026 13:44

Dcat loves licking DHs right armpit. She never licks the left. He's her favourite human so guess she just loves his smell.

The cat we had when I was child used to love this too, and he was very much not a cuddly, affectionate cat. I remember my Mum had to go and rescue a friend of mine who had been taking liberties with our cat and then found herself cornered by him.

My current cat is scared of everything. The other day he bolted upstairs because the wind caught the corner of a tea towel that was on the top of a pile of washing. The vet gave me some capsules that have a powder in them that has cat milk hormones in and is supposed to make them feel calm and contented. Obviously he assumed I was trying to poison him when I put a few sprinkles on his food. 🙄

So does mine! If any part of the bin liner is sticking out of the kitchen bin slightly, he chews it.
