She leapt from my bed to dangle from the top of the curtains as she heard the birds had landed on the guttering.

No warning, no preamble, just a dangling kitty clinging on by her claws looking very sorry for herself when she realised she just had to let go.

I woke up everyone in the house at 6am as I was laughing so loudly at her.

How about yours?

We took our GirlKitty's cone off after she'd had her spay... BoyKitty came along and went 'What's this? Looks interesting...'. Stuck his head right in it, and the idiot only coned himself - ran off in hysterics, bashing into things... 🤦‍♀️😂

We have a cat who, when DP gets the vacuum out, presents himself to be hoovered. DP has to take the brush off and vacuum the cat with the metal tube bit. Cat will lie down and roll over to have each side done and he likes it when his tail goes up the tube. Other cats either flee the room and hide from the shouty machine or look on in horror.

Dyson do a pet attachment precisely for this purpose. (Though I think it’s aimed at dogs)

CamilleBeauchamp · 04/07/2026 16:26

Dyson do what now?! Oh, (checks), they do! Love that!

@Fgfgfg , I bet your cat's not the only one who loves it when his tail goes up the tube... 😂

Our vacuum was about £40 from Argos.

Mine has a fetish for cotton buds. Used ones I mean, that I've just cleaned my ears out with 🤢

One of my late DM's cats used to love being hoovered. It was only in her later years though, when I think she'd gone a bit deaf and couldn't hear the noise of the vacuum cleaner!

DontCallMeBaby · 04/07/2026 17:17

One of ours bites cardboard boxes. Doesn’t eat the cardboard, spits it out. Quite an unnerving noise until you realise what’s going on.

And now I'm crying 🤣 🤣 🤣

My little one (sadly no longer with us 😭) decided to sit on my lap in the garden and do the "chuntering at birds" noise at an aeroplane! 🤣 I did try to explain to her that if the plane landed, she was sadly outgunned 🤣

Alaska has improved lately but when we first got her she had a habit if getting stuck to things. I woke up one morning hearing her crying and she had managed to get three paws stuck to the net curtain in the bedroom. I tried to rescue her and she scratched me. I eventually got her unstuck in between dodging claws from the free paw and trying to stop her falling off the window sill while she thrashed. The following evening she got stuck to another net curtain, my husband rescued her that time. We don't have net curtains anymore.

My late cat used to love the taste of Deep Heat. I found this out when I hurt my ankle and started licking it after I put it on! I had to be very careful around him whenever I used the stuff, because it can't be safe for cats!

When 'he' stared licking it, lol.

MagpiePi · 05/07/2026 07:40

@ToadRage That is such typical cat slave behaviour - completely rethink your lifestyle choices to accommodate the cat 😂

Naturally, that is our purpose. Dogs have owners, cats have staff.

I've got a parking space outside my house, there's a huge metal frame and it's completely covered by grapevines. Looks beautiful and provides shade for my car. My big tabby boy (6kg) loves to scale it and show off, especially when I have visitors.

Last year my parents were staying and we were sitting outside; big fat tabby made a big show of clambering up and tightroping the vines. My mum asked how he intended on getting down, I said Oh he's fine, he just abseils down the trunk. The next thing...BOOM - BFT fell from a great height and landed on my car, he literally bounced off the bonnet and landed about 2m away 😱🤣 We were all creased up laughing, thankfully there was no damage to my car or BFT's ego 😹

This little (5 month old) shit learnt today that he can get out of the velux windows in the loft room. We spent an agonising 10 mins watching him sprint and slide across ours and our neighbours’ tiles whilst trying to tempt him back in. He knows exactly where the fun happens now and I’ve had to race him up 3 flights of stairs twice since to try and stop him getting out again. Of course the windows are only open a tiny crack now but he cannot be trusted.

When my two were littler kittens, I went to grab my rucksack to go out one day and they'd absolutely stuffed it with twigs, it was like finding a bird's nest... I guess the twigs were 'prey' and they were caching them?

Now my little girl has graduated to feathers - she comes marching in with them in her mouth, miaowing importantly, and presents them to me. I have to make a big deal of admiring them, then she takes them off happily to play with...

If I'm not there, she leaves them on my pillow to find at bedtime...

😍

CamilleBeauchamp · 27/07/2026 08:45

She's also got a crush on Chris Packham. This started when he presented 'Springwatch', aka 'The Food Programme for Cats'...

Then 'Springwatch' ended, but the other day 'Evolution' was on and she got excited at the sound of his voice...

This has reminded me about worm storage. Many years ago we had a cat who stored live worms and plastic drinking straws under the rug in the living room. Straws weren't too bad but you'd be watching telly and a worm would suddenly wriggle out from under the rug. Cat would get very offended when we put the worm out but weirdly we never saw her bringing them in.

AppleDumplingWithCustard · 28/07/2026 01:52

Mine likes me to watch her eat. She miaows at me until I follow her to her food bowl and I then have to stand there watching. She particularly likes it if I throw in a word of encouragement every so often. 😹

Globules · 28/07/2026 05:55

These stories are great!

And what a sweetie @Ohhelppp 🥰

I discovered last week my girl has worked out she can use my first floor top opening window as an entrance. I don't know how she's doing it, as there's no ledge to jump from.

She informed me of this at 4.30am when I was woken by a thud. Then she appeared on my duvet. Bedroom door remained closed.

Clever girl!
