Finlay has either gone missing or been on his longest walk about ever
He has not been home for 48 hours now - tracker is out of battery and I’m starting to get worried
It’s DS birthday so am trying not to stress and spoil the day - DS just keeps telling me not to worry and it’s due to the amazing weather and that Finn is just making the most of it after a wet cold winter

Fingers crossed for a swift return!

Beamur · 19/03/2026 13:16

Try not to worry. Cats can often wander off for a day or two and the break in the weather has probably tempted him out.
Cats can sometimes get disoriented close to home - go out and look for him/shake treats etc. Early evening and morning probably best. Put out something that smells strongly of home - a used litter tray is ideal. Fingers crossed he's home soon

JaceLancs · 19/03/2026 13:41

Thank you both x he knows his way home usually - when I get home from work I will drive/walk round his usual haunts but can’t access a lot of them as he is usually in a field somewhere and if there’s no public footpath or bridle way etc I’m stuck
Hand holding appreciated

Sorry to hear that and I pray he turns up soon. Hopefully it's down to the good weather.

Zinner · 19/03/2026 14:22

I’m sure your DS is right but so hard not to worry. Can you see where he was when the tracker battery ran out? Hoping for his safe return soon, intrepid traveller that he is x

Breadcat24 · 19/03/2026 16:19

@JaceLancs So sorry. You have all his routes mapped can you whip up a posse of friends and search along his main routes

BillieWiper · 19/03/2026 16:26

I'm sure he's chasing birds and insects. I guess ask around neighbours if they've seen him but they do get excited in spring and stay out longer sometimes.

There's a slim chance he could be in a shed or something. Or a neighbour's house.

Hope he's back soon x

Whosthetabbynow · 19/03/2026 16:56

Has the sun appeared where you are? The cats seem drawn to even the slightest glimmer of sun. Wishing him a speedy return 🙏🏻

JaceLancs · 19/03/2026 18:18

Sun has been out here for 3 days
Just got home and no sign - DS and I are heading out to try a few houses whose gardens he frequents
If no signs of return during the night I’m going to go into work late and try again in the morning
Finn is chipped so if anyone found him injured or otherwise it would be easy to find us
I am still hopeful that he’s either shut in somewhere or holed up outside a mouse nest or some such place

Keeping everything crossed for his safe return. My boy went missing for over a week the first time he went out after we got him and found his way back. I sprinkled litter from his tray all around the garden and put his bedding at the front and back of the house, I’m pretty sure that helped him find his way back.

RumNotRun · 19/03/2026 19:56

@JaceLancs sorry to hear that Fin is missing. I hope he's just got over excited by the nice weather and has gone for an extended explore. Keeping my fingers crossed for his safe and speedy return.

Pixiedust1234 · 19/03/2026 20:54

I expect he's just exhausted from all the butterfly and baby mice hunting he's been doing now the sun is finally out.

Sends Finlay a bat signal to get home quick, you are about to get grounded young man!

Toddlerteaplease · 19/03/2026 21:07

Fingers crossed he appears soon, wondering what the fuss is about.

Pudmyboy · 19/03/2026 23:40

Oh Finlay you little heartbreaker! I can understand your worry, not only in general, but also because of his history. I hope, like everyone, that he waltzes in oblivious to the upset he has caused.
He is such a gorgeous friendly boy, I hope he has been having a holiday in the care home I believe he visits?
Come back Finlay!🤞🏼🤞🏼

JaceLancs · 20/03/2026 09:04

I couldn’t sleep most of last night - DS stayed up till 2 in case he appeared - I checked at 4 and 7.45 - kept dreaming he’d run in though his cat flap then woke up to reality
Went into sitting room just now before I set off for work and he was sat on back of sofa looking at me as if to say where’s my breakfast?
Been missing nearly 3 days! Tracker is back on just need to get an AirTag collar holder
Thank you for all your hand holding - much appreciated

@JaceLancs thank goodness, Fin you little beggar worrying Jace so much

Whosthetabbynow · 20/03/2026 09:13

Oh fantastic!!!! Naughty boy!!! What a lovely relief for you @JaceLancs xx

RumNotRun · 20/03/2026 09:15

Oh what fantastic news!! A couple of my old cats would always disappear for too long at the beginning of spring, it's such a worry!

Pixiedust1234 · 20/03/2026 09:18

and he was sat on back of sofa looking at me as if to say where’s my breakfast?

🙄
Of course he was. What a little monkey, he could at least have told you he was back! I bet he wasn't ravenous either since he was stuffed full with butterflies and baby mice and sunshine.

Pudmyboy · 20/03/2026 09:40

Yay Finlay! Little minx! I hope you get lots of cuddles from him today to make up for the heartache he caused. And a good night's sleep tonight. 😻

Beamur · 20/03/2026 10:43

Aren't they little rat bags.
Glad he's home ❤️

Pianoaholic · 20/03/2026 10:52

That's good to hear @JaceLancs.
He's a terror isn't he! But very cute and easy to forgive I expect.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 20/03/2026 14:53

Very very pleased to hear Finlay has returned.
He really is a little sod isn"t he 😹

Gatekeeper · 20/03/2026 15:01

What a relief!

JaceLancs · 20/03/2026 15:23

Now sleeping off his travels in his house
Thank you everyone ❤️
