Prison Dramas, Bands and Ouija Boards - the Excellent Cats audition, sing and plot

Our feline overlords have so many current strings to their joint and several bows.

Auditioning for Series One of The Prison Cat, forming a band, and continuing to plot against their enemies by means of their Ouija Boards - will they even have time to sleep now?

Christmas horror films 😁. They were rubbish.

Haunted turkeys? Attack of the killer tinsel?

RumNotRun · 06/12/2025 10:26

The Nights Before Christmas about a pair of serial killers who were convinced they were Mr and Mrs Claus. Also Santa-N which was about Santa being/becoming the devil because people lost sight of what Christmas is about and began worshipping consumerism and greed. Great concept, shame about the delivery.

I've bought an old DVD for Christmas Day - The Devil Rides Out.
That should please DS2.

Since my stupid husband buggered off, I've been buying and watching loads of DVDs.

I'm about to embark on Wuthering Heights, which I've never actually read.

Made it up to 50% last night. Kettle made sure there was plenty of his real fur stitched in, for extra authenticity.

Ah, classic Dennis Wheatley! Who wrote possibly the greatest load of bollocks it's possible to write about witchcraft (combined it with Satanism, very different beliefs entirely!) but the films were loads of fun. Christopher Lee & Charles Gray starring in that one. If you enjoy it try "To the Devil, a Daughter", another Hammer film based on a Wheatley novel. In fact most of the classic Hammer horrors a loads of fun 🤓

Thinking of the number of box sets & films you're buying, may well be cheaper for you to subscribe to a couple of places like Amazon Prime. In fact checking up on it, you can buy (download) or rent The Devil Rides out on Amazon right now, which may have been a bit cheaper than buying the DVD. I also get Netflix cheap with my Sky subscription & they have loads of good series you can binge watch.

I’ve started re-reading Jane Eyre.

I can’t believe nobody bothered to treat her cut head in the first few pages.

Yes, they should have taken her to A and E, after having completed an accident form.

Or maybe started a thread on here

("Should we go to A and E - head wound advice needed")

I have my Dad's collection of leather bound Dennis Wheatley books. I haven't read them for about 30 years but did enjoy them as a 12/13 ye old. Not something I can ever imagine Dad reading though.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 06/12/2025 16:35

I confess that I did enjoy reading Dennis Wheatley.

I also confess that I've already given up on Wuthering Heights. I'm halfway through Episode One and I've taken the DVD out. The characters are so horrible.

I’ve just got back from a mug painting party. Kitty is obviously much better lookimg in person but I had fun trying to paint her.

Wuthering Heights is an absolutely horrible book so you've definitely made the right call.

EmpressaurusKitty · 06/12/2025 23:48

I had to write about Wuthering Heights in some exam or other & had a good time making a case for Heathcliff being a vampire. I think worms might have come into it somewhere too.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 06/12/2025 23:59

Well now, my next foray into Ye Olde DVD Collection is:

Boys from the Black Stuff

I'd better go because Gizmo is eating my heated blanket.

YouTube has Cold Comfort Farm, The Camomile Lawn & the Harriet Vane trilogy from the Lord Peter Wimsey mysteries if any of that’s interesting?

That's fantastic, love that it contains real Kettle fur. I really need to try and create one for Matilda and Boris. I'd be really interested to see what the thread colour selection looked like for Boris, as it can't be all black.

I did Wuthering Heights as either A level or GCSE English Literature. I'm intrigued about the vampire Heathcliff, not something that occurred to me reading the book, but might have made it more interesting. Did you get a good mark?

It was either for my degree (2:1) or A-Level (B) but I’ve got no idea now how the individual essay did or what my arguments were.

Glad it wasn't only me who thought that. 🤣

Tobias has discovered a new vocalisation - purring!

So proud of my brave boy, purring loudly enough to be heard while having his neck & bum scritches. And not just once either, thought I heard him last night but Girlcat was standing quite close eating, but this morning she was nowhere near and it happened at least 3 times (number of times he demands attention between the living room & the kitchen at meal times).

Oh, well done Tobias - what progress from the early days

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 07/12/2025 08:55

Absolutely delighted that Tobias has found his purr. You're clearly doing a great job @Allergictoironing.

HumanToCatBeasties · 07/12/2025 09:34

I didn't realise that Tobias never purred @Allergictoironing how sad. How lovely though that he's started now.
