Oh I'm so, so sorry. He was beautiful 💔

myusernamewastakenbyme · 13/05/2025 21:33

I had to go to work today but i think that was a good thing as it was a distraction...my son works from home and is still very quiet and had a cry earlier when we were looking at photos of Buster.
I cannot tell you how much your lovely comments have helped...I read them out to my son and they brought him comfort.
Thank you all again❤️

I am so very sorry it is heart breaking, it happened to one of my boys a few years back and the only small comfort I could find is that it would have been very quick.
I am so sorry for the loss of your beautiful boy.

Sorry OP, it hurts doesn't it. It happened to my favourite boy 5 years ago now and I still think of him a lot, especially when we have a BBQ because we always cooked him a little piece of steak and a sausage. He loved a good BBQ. I made a collage of photos of him and it's just inside my front door. It's the first thing I look at when I come in.

The thing is to keep remembering what a happy and lovely life he did have, and he knew how much he was loved. Keep that as your focus.

Its been 6 days since we lost Buster and the rawness is not so raw...I just feel so sad knowing I will never see him again.
Id like to thank every one of you who has commented on this thread...your kindness and compassion has brought us a huge amount of comfort❤️

Please don’t blame yourself for adopting him. If you hadn’t then he would not have had the most wonderful time with your family and been loved as much. He was part of your family and that will never change. It will be a hard time but go easy on yourself. Sending hugs

Just a quick update on this thread....we are 3 weeks on from losing Buster and we have another cat...she is an 8 year old tortoiseshell named Luna....her elderly owner died and none of the family could take her...we collected her on Sunday....she is a petite timid little girl and she is starting to settle here quite nicely.
I think Buster would be pleased that we have taken on a cat that needs a home.

Luckycatlady · 29/05/2025 13:55

you will have made his time of earth perfect

MeezerMeezerLemonSqueezer · 29/05/2025 14:34

It's horrible isn't it? I'm so sorry, I lost one as a kitten and I understand. Sending headrubs and meows.

ImWearingPantaloons · 29/05/2025 14:52

Oh I’m so sorry, he was a beauty.

CatChant · 29/05/2025 15:02

I am so glad. Luna has lost her human and her home, and you lost your lovely Buster. I think you need her as much as she needs you.

I have a soft spot for all torties in memory of a very special one. I hope she brings you as much happiness as my girl always did me.

JaceLancs · 29/05/2025 16:39

What a gorgeous tortie - I am sure Buster would be pleased you have found room for another Dcat in your life
Loved the pics of your DS with him and hoping he is doing ok too x

flowerfake · 29/05/2025 16:56

I’m really glad to see you’ve adopted Luna. Buster looks amazing, and like all cats he lived totally in the present moment. No regrets. No bucket list. Just the present now and he was happy and loved with you. Quality of life over quantity every time for animals who have no plans for the future. Just the present.

Ive got a tortiseshell too and she is mad and loyal and very very keen on following me around. Lots of attitude and personality and regularly chases off cats twice her size from the garden.

I hope you really enjoy getting to know Luna even with the sadness of missing Buster.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 31/05/2025 17:39

We have had Luna almost a week and she is starting to settle...shes quite a nervous cat and wants attention only on her terms...me and my son have both been scratched lol...I now let her come to me and i can tell when she has had enough fuss.
She sleeps on my sons bed every night and is as good as gold...uses her litter tray...eats well etc.
She is definately filling the cat shaped hole in our hearts.

A lovely thing to do OP, Luna is very pretty. She will never replace Buster, she will have her own personality but he would be proud that another kitty has been given a loving home. She come around affection wise, might take awhile xx
