Heartbreaking. I’m so very sorry for you and your son. I hope you both get some sleep tonight.

PlutoCat · 12/05/2025 22:20

So sorry, he was gorgeous. What a horrible thing to happen.

Langdale3 · 12/05/2025 22:21

How very sad, what a beautiful boy 💐 I hope you both can get some sleep.

Anjelika · 12/05/2025 22:28

So sorry for your loss. What a gorgeous boy and he obviously had an incredible bond with your son. You must both be heartbroken.

Yakacm · 12/05/2025 22:55

Aww, wow that's so sad, poor wee man, and poor you and your son. I can't imagine what you are going through, just the thought of something happening to our big boy Timmy. Here's a picture of Timmy making a nice cup of tea for you and your lad xx.

I’m so sorry about your cat, buster was obviously very loved.

AlmostSummer25 · 13/05/2025 00:20

I'm so sorry 🥲

beautiful boys & they looked so content together ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹

you obviously gave him a very loving home, you rescued him & he was happy with you, try to focus on that 😘

cakedup · 13/05/2025 00:28

My Toby died 18 months ago, he was 8 so not old. Like you OP, it was doubly heartbreaking to see my adult son sob...Toby used to follow him everywhere. It does obviously get easier with time, the first few weeks is awful. The vet clipped some of his fur and made a paw print and put it in an envelope...I still can't bring myself to open it!! I do feel for you, much love to you and your son.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 13/05/2025 06:02

Thank you all...ive been up since 4am...house feels so empty without him....i keep expecting him to come running in..
Thank you Timmy for the tea...it was very much needed❤️.

Seeyousoonboo · 13/05/2025 06:06

Awww massive hugs to you. I lost mine a few years ago on the road too it is a horrible experience, she was only a few years old too. I hope they are over the rainbow bridge playing together x

VirgosNeedGoals · 13/05/2025 06:10

How devastating OP 😢 xx

Cats Protection gave him his name and it suited him perfectly...he was a gentle giant of a cat...I keep thinking if i had'nt adopted him he would still be alive...its my fault x

But look at the love he found with your son... he might have ended up in a home that didn't care as much, or languished in the cattery... He had six beautiful months with you.

Take good care of each other now. So many people understand how you're feeling, we've (mostly) been there... 🤗

Don’t be daft! He had a lovely life with you, he died knowing he was happy, safe and loved with a nice home and people to care for him. It’s definitely not your fault! It’s better than he had an excellent short life than a miserable long life!

AlteredStater · 13/05/2025 09:24

I'm so very sorry to hear of your loss, what a beautiful kitty! It's doubly sad when they are so young, so hard to lose them. You gave him a loving and happy home, that's the best possible life for any cat. It's certainly not your fault this happened, don't beat yourself up about it.

I like to imagine all my past kitties waiting on the Rainbow Bridge, happily playing, till one day I arrive to collect them all. Big hugs to you and your son.

myusernamewastakenbyme · 13/05/2025 09:28

Your lovely comments are all so kind...my son is still in a state...its just so raw this time yesterday he was sunning himself in the garden and now hes gone....its so so unfair x

OP posts:
Pudmyboy · 13/05/2025 19:01

It is unfair, no two ways about it, and that unfairness must rankle, he should have had many happy years but a shitty accident has robbed you and your son of that beautiful boy. Feel what you want or need to feel, but always remember the love never leaves❤️💐

SabreIsMyFave · 13/05/2025 20:05

Awwww, don't blame yourself @myusernamewastakenbyme 😢 That makes me sad. This whole thread is quite heartbreaking tbh. It is bringing out the best of Mumsnet though. Some lovely people here. ❤

The pics of your sons are lovely... Thanks for sharing them with us all. Smile

I am so sorry you lost your adorable cat. Sad Such a beauty!

Snickersnack1 · 13/05/2025 20:11

He was a beautiful cat, and it looks like his short life with you was a very happy one. I hope it’s some comfort to know his death was instant and he didn’t suffer. I’m so sorry for your loss xx

CatChant · 13/05/2025 20:15

Don’t blame yourself. He was quite clearly adored and happy throughout his life with you and he could so easily never have found a kind home. It’s very sad and unfair that his time was so short but it was simply a horrible accident.

Your photos are lovely.

StMarie4me · 13/05/2025 20:20

I’m so sorry. Buster was beautiful and clearly so loved. Heartbreaking.

VirgosNeedGoals · 13/05/2025 20:41

I've been thinking of you and your son today OP although I know nothing will make you feel better for a long time ♥️

Glitchymn1 · 13/05/2025 20:49

I’m so sorry, he was beautiful. It hurts so much xx

LeftyLou · 13/05/2025 20:55
