Do you collect whiskers?

I pick them up and put them in a jar every time I find them, not really sure why, I just like to collect them!

Nope.
Every time I see one I think of the weird things I’ve seen people do with them on TikTok. (Embroidery the last vid I saw) there are also people who collect every shed hair of their own that they find on there too, TT is v weird sometimes!

dodobookends · 06/04/2025 15:02

No, it has never occurred to me to do that.

ShowoffCats · 06/04/2025 15:49

I do! It's like finding a little treasure, they are so perfect. I don't keep any other shed parts (feline or human), nor do I have any weird or creative plans for them.

🤣 You are officially the mad cat lady!

Haggisfish3 · 06/04/2025 15:54

What?! Ew no! And I’m not easily grossed out tbf. 🤣 I hate seeing their little claws they pull out too.

Same.
I feel it's "lucky" as well - like a four leaf clover 😹

ladymalfoy45 · 06/04/2025 16:47

I do. Sort of.
But there's an artist who uses Footner and embroiders her stuffed skin if anyone thinks collecting whiskers is weird.

TheLovleyChebbyMcGee · 06/04/2025 16:55

I do!! I've got a special wee jar for them too, I do think it's odd, but I've started and I'm nothing if not committed to my crazy cat ladyiness.

I love finding them, its like a little treasure, especially the black ones and they are harder to see so get found rarely

JustAboutMuddlingThrough · 06/04/2025 18:45

I did. I now have them inside a small box next to his ashes

How is that gross?

Haggisfish3 · 06/04/2025 19:53

I see it as a toenail. Maybe I’m the odd one! 🤷🏻‍♀️🤣

Shamwish · 06/04/2025 19:57

I do too. They're mesmerising. I love how they taper from sharp and so thick to barely detectable.

Pudmyboy · 07/04/2025 12:14

I have some from when my late Pud was around, along with some shedded claws and a tiny clump of fur. Wasn't collecting for any reason but am glad I did. Even if it looks like I intend to do some voodoo (I am not!)

HuckleCat · 09/04/2025 11:22

Today's good luck! 😻
(or toenail, depending on where you're coming from 😹)

🤣 You are officially the mad cat lady!

I have them in a zip lock bag , two black cats = a lot of whiskers and we never know who from

I don't know why , it just seems lovely to find them Maybe my cats leave them as incentives .

Me -"I found this when I was leaning the stairs"
Cats- " might make you clean the stairs more if we leave you the odd whisker"

When the time comes I will clone the cats ( not really)

That is an impressive whisker there !

ThatWriterInTheCorner · 09/04/2025 12:58

Absolutely not, collecting whiskers is clearly the act of a weirdo 😁

SocksShmocks · 09/04/2025 13:07

Never thought of it! Our cat is nearly 3 and I’ve only ever seen a few stray whiskers (his are all white). We’ve found the occasional claw (from scratching) and once found another cat’s claw stuck in his head!

I put my own (human) children’s umbilical cords straight in the bin when they fell off and haven’t collected baby teeth either so the cat shouldn’t feel hard done by.

🤣🤣

My Daughter collects all the kitten teeth and has a pretty little box for them, she would be in good company on this thread!

That’s impressive! My cats are both white and ginger so they only have white whiskers

EmuFace · 09/04/2025 17:25

No, but I do always sneak up to DH and prod him with it when I find a whisker!

PinkPonyClubber · 09/04/2025 17:26

We have loads. A box full of white whiskers from my beloved boy who died last year and now we are adding the black whiskers of our new cat.
No idea why, they seem too precious to throw and I enjoy having a part of my lovely boy still.
Black whiskers seem harder to find though.

capybaraqueen · 09/04/2025 18:01

Yassssss! We call them lucky whiskers and get very excited whenever we find them. My DD made a mini vase and we put them in that.

Very happy crazy cat lady here 🤪

Cornettoninja · 09/04/2025 18:07

I do quite like finding them for some reason but I don’t collect them. I’m another that didn’t keep baby teeth or the umbilical cord.

if it makes you happy then I’m happy for you!

neverknowinglyunreasonable · 09/04/2025 18:08

This thread is the worst thing I've ever seen on the whole internet.
