what is your cat obsessed with?

Ours it's the kitchen cupboards, if he sees the m open he immediately tries to get in and root(we keep his food in a set of drawers) and if the drawers above the cupboards are open he's tries to peer in, thankfully he hasn't worked out how to open the doors.

At the moment, me.

She's had to be clipped due to old age/arthritis/matting as despite a selection of warm jumpers, they're nowhere near as warm as being glued to me every second I'm in the house. It's worse at night, as she's then trying to stand on my face to get as close as possibly to my neck.

As soon as her coat grows back, she'll likely return to adoring DP and merely using me for a bit of fuss before she snuggles back into him.

Pulling ajar the bath panel and squeezing behind it. Then meows pathetically because he can't get out. He's also obsessed with catching rats from across the road, proudly bringing it back to my garden to torment and kill it.

WonderingWanda · 05/11/2024 19:13

Being fed. Picking my sofa. Being let out the front door rather than using the cat flap. Drinking my bathwater. Sitting on the bit of the sofa someone else is already sitting on and steeling hair bobbles.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 05/11/2024 19:17

Eyelash brushes. Teen DD gets her lashes done and has dozens of the little brushes, as soon as the cat sees one he pounces and will not let it go, they are his little treasures. He bats them across the floor then chases after them, hides them under furniture and spends ages trying to get them out then stashes them away somewhere while he seeks out a new one for his collection. He has hundreds of toys but none can compare to a lash brush.

Girl cat - being under the duvet. OK in the winter it's nice having a furry hot water bottle. Less so in the summer. And much less so when that water bottle has claws.

She's quite insane about it and will start head butting if we don't lift the duvet up. She's perfected her own unassisted burrowing technique but sometimes Boy Cat is in the way which causes her intense distress.

My husband’s chair. She will start staring hard at him around 8:00 pm. He tries to stay until 8:30 but usually gets intimidated by 8:15 and heads to his office in the garden after putting a towel down for her.

Soldiergirl99 · 05/11/2024 19:37

Cuddles and food. I have a velcro cat who is obsessed with comfort.

shellyleppard · 05/11/2024 19:40

Our part time stray visitor loves the sofa, gets very upset if he can't hog it Lol

shellyleppard · 05/11/2024 19:41

But he will let you stroke his belly if he's happy. He is a very very nervous cat but he's slowly trusting us more.

stormsandsunshine · 05/11/2024 22:13

My office chair. If I leave the room I come back to find 2 cats on it. It is possible for me to sit on the chair and work with 2 cats behind me, as long as they don’t start play-fighting each other.

Cat 2 is quite nervy and intense - having spent weeks being jittery I was happy that she wanted to sit behind me and purr. Then she wanted to sit on the top of the chair above my head and nuzzle me. That was lovely too. Then she decided she wanted to lick my hair and groom it like a kitten and when I pulled away she would gently reach out with her paws and try to pull me back. The intention was lovely but the reality less so.

Kimbles, the clear ones holding the tag to a new piece of clothing. Obsessed. Never had anything top a kimble. I get terrified he will accidentally swallow one even though he just bats them around like a lunatic with his paws, so he just gets a supervised play with one every now and again. Christmas has come in his eyes.

He's gorgeous! Another cupboard lover here, I have child locks the ones up high because loves pulling things out of them, after coming home to eggs smashed on the counter and porridge oats all over the floor I had to lock everything down 😂

Puppylucky · 08/11/2024 18:38

The front door/ hall. He will sit by the inner door crying piteously to be let into the hall and sniff around the front door.

ProvincialLady24 · 08/11/2024 18:40

My sweet girl is obsessed with me. I've never known such a pure and sweet adoration.

AceOfCups · 08/11/2024 18:42

He’s obsessed with drinking out of the fish tank.

weegiemum · 08/11/2024 18:45

Ds! He's 22 and recently moved back home as his flat share fell apart. I won't see her all day and then he gets in from work and she's all over him - "your cruel mummy hasn't fed me all day!" - when she's been sleeping in her bed in the shed (she also has beds in the house!) ignoring me until her favourite person comes home. He cradles her like a baby and she kisses his nose, makes me feel like a 3rd wheel!

Dh will do at a pinch. Last night dh was away working and ds at his girlfriend's flat. By 9pm she'd given in and let me feed her!!

EmpressaurusDelleGatte · 08/11/2024 18:51

My last foster kitten was obsessed with teatowels. He loved jumping up to pull them off the hook in the kitchen & then wrestling them.

In the end I gave him a bright red teatowel for his very own, which lived on the original hook, & put a new teatowel hook up for me that he couldn’t reach. Happy boy!

AthenaWhite · 08/11/2024 19:07

He is obsessed with a Peppa Pig shopping bag and gets sad if it is put away. He slides under it and lurks for a while then shoots off. Sometimes he bounces into it.

The kitchen radiator. He yowls at it if the heating is not on.

goingtohellinahandcart · 08/11/2024 19:41

Cats are weird aren't they, ours is currently sulking as dd2(favourite person) has gone away with dh leaving him stuck with me

One is obsessed with pipe cleaners, another loves springs, another loves plastic straws (he hardly gets them now) and another loves bits of paper to rid up... weirdos

Breadcat24 · 08/11/2024 19:53

clear crinkly plastic bags like cellophane
she bites them and I cry no no
thinking of vets bills

NoProbLlamaa · 08/11/2024 19:57

Invisibobbles

She can’t get enough of them. Steals them from my dressing table and plays all day. The same cat has never played with any toy in her life

Farmgoose · 08/11/2024 20:03

His own arsehole

TheSpottedZebra · 08/11/2024 20:13

Yoghurt! One of my cats is OBSESSED with yoghurt. He'll hunt me down if I have it, and try to leap into the fridge, or get in from above to get his beloved yoghurt.

Only problem is he's never had it, not allowed it. He gets the wild shits if he eats anything other than his special food, and has been quite poorly in the past so I'm really careful.

But still, he know he loves yoghurt.
