Weird cat rituals

Almost every night, at around 4am, Kitty wakes me up by pouncing on my foot.

Then she goes into the living room and eats a bit of kibble, I shut her in there to stop her waking me a second time and we both go back to sleep. At least I assume she goes back to sleep.

I have absolutely no idea what the reasoning behind this is. She gets no play or cuddles at that time of the morning and the kibble is out already.

Does anyone else’s cat do weird things for no apparent reason?

He looks well equal to the job of Hoomin Protection! What a handsome little man. You must be so proud. 😻

My cat goes through weird phases. He's fine all night, has access to my room and the rest of the house all night but about 4am suddenly starts shrieking at me- petting him and talking to him isn't enough, or even going to the bathroom. He wants you up, out of bed and downstairs with him. If I don't do this, he goes to both of the kids' rooms with the doors shut and bangs and shrieks/wails at them like he's dying. Sadly I have to lock him downstairs which I hate doing. He isn't hungry. In the morning he's always there waiting by the door 🥺

But oddly he will also have phases where he doesn't do this at all and will just sleep/play himself all night. No discernible patterns or reasons why he sometimes does this and sometimes doesn't! Odd!

CatOfAle won't eat his breakfast unless I stroke him at the food bowl first.

My cat does the, I want to go out squeak/chirp then, when the door is opened walks round the coffee table before she goes out. What is that about? At night will also sneak up the bed to see if we are awake. When we stroke her or speak she squeaks again. Cat you woke us, what were you expecting? I adore cats, the mad little creatures 😍

My cats use the cat flap freely. Unless i’m in the kitchen then they both stand by the door until I open it…even though one of them hisses at me when I actually do open it as if I’m doing him a disservice.

One has to have his wet food on the worktop, we can’t remember why this became a thing but it firmly is, he’ll jump up happily when my DP feeds him, but when I feed him he has to be lifted up or he will willingly starve.

If we don’t wake up at the required time for breakfast feeding, one attacks our feet, launches himself off window sills and wardrobes, and purposefully walks really heavy footed in and out of the bedroom with laminate flooring (not the other carpeted bedrooms) to ‘accidentally’ wake us up.

Every time we boil the kettle the cat presents herself to receive some dreamies.
Kettle clicks, cat sits at cupboard where dreamies are & meows.

Mine sits in the kitchen at around 4am every day as though she’s saying “helllllo? I’m going to the toilet now! Just to let you al knooooooow’”. She does then indeed proceed to go to her litter house, kick the crunchy litter all over, do a big poo, and then we here the litter being kicked all over again and through the litter house door into the hall way. She then sits on the stairs and tells us all she’s now finished, then goes and climbs on the sofa and snores quite loudly.

Ginger cat problems…..

Hehe…. Same for us when we open the fridge. Ours magically appears.

We often go upstairs around 9.30pm and watch tv or read for an hour before we go to sleep. One of our cats has taken to miaowing loudly to tell us it's bedtime around 9pm every single night. They're locked downstairs at night as we'd get zero sleep and before anyone worries they're locked in the sitting room/dining room which is a good 25 square metres and has two sofas and a table and chairs 😹😹

Our kitty is a very spoilt cat. She's a rescue cat who made the choice herself many years ago to be a house cat after she was found on the streets age 1 with her 2 kittens. We have to have all of the doors in our house permanently ajar as she hates being shut in/out if anywhere and will scratch the door and carpet to get in/out. It's mostly to get in! I'm very impressed your cat just happily accepts being shut in one room. Our cat's fave room is probably the living room with her blanket, her stool, 2 chairs and a sofa and her spot behind the sofa but she would still go crazy if shut in!
