How cats show affection

I'm so lucky with LittleBeast he's snuggled up to me as I type and he is an amazing, cuddle monster. One of the cutest things is he strokes me when he's on the verge of sleep.

The late Cheddar was a complete space invader and always wanted a cuddle! Miss her so much.

So sorry @Toddlerteaplease - you've always been an amazing rescuer of Queens.

Myself and dh have ' jobs ' that the cat expects us to do and is confused or refuses the ' job ' if the other person does it . I change the litterbox , change the water , give the treats out , and is also the person who is woken in the night if a stroke is required .
Dh feeds him , gives out the hairball treatment on his finger , and brushes him .
Any jobs given by the other person is sometimes ignored.

I used to see my late little love just looking at me from the comfort of his own chair, melted my heart each time. He used to press his little paws against me when sleeping: not every time, didn't want to spoil me!

You’re so lucky. Mine is so aloof. Will stand a maximum 2 minutes of stroking and then she’s off.

About once a week if I am very lucky my thug will lie next to me and permit me to stroke him for a few minutes.
Then when he has had enough he shoots of like I've zapped him with a cattle prod

LittleBeast likes to curl around my head to sleep and purrs away. He is such an affectionate cat!

Mine jumps up onto the arm of the sofa and gives me a head bump and rub when he comes in. He also does it if I ask him to give me a love. 😊

The late lamented Bubbles would creep onto my pillow just as I was going to sleep, and give a quick lick on my eyebrow before settling down on my shoulder. A bit later she'd move down to my hip and use it for a hammock, then at some time in the night she'd leave the room so quietly I didn't even notice. Of an evening, mainly in colder weather, she'd lie along my arm against my chest and tuck her nose into my elbow for a protracted snuggle. She was very small, very cute but not overburdened with brain cells. I shall miss her always, but current cats are a great consolation. I don't think either of them would even fit along my arm though...

I’ve just adopted a cat (cat tax paid below). When I come in she runs towards me with her tail up & weaves round my legs. She purrs when I stroke her & sometimes we just sit & blink at each other. She’s not a lap cat but she sleeps at the end of my bed. 😻

I like to assume that BastardCat showed his affection by clamping his jaws right around my wrist- with no provocation- had to get antibiotics on one occasion when he basically bit through - 8.6kg cat - I'm small, so cuddly, non bitey cat is lovely although I know BastardCat would have gone into attack mode if he thought I was under threat - whereas LittleBeast would hide under big armchair - which is absolutely correct!

My rescued boy:

Grooms my face
Makes himself into a scarf during morning cuddles
Walks around my feet constantly
Sits on my shoulder and nuzzles me
Crawls from the bottom of the bed to curl up in just such a position that we breathe on each other as soon as he hears the alarm.
Follows me from room to room

Mine show affection by not biting me.

My boyfriend is so jealous as his cat is the complete opposite. 4 years on, I'm barely allowed to stroke her and she's only within the last 6 months started getting onto "her" bed when I'm in it.

Whereas my boy whored himself out to the boyfriend on day 1 of meeting 🤣

One of mine has his breakfast then cries and cries for me to get back into bed and cuddle him. The problem is my other cat cries for me to go back downstairs! They don’t get on unfortunately.

My cat is not a lap cat and doesn't sleep on me etc. He will receive affection in small doses on his terms. He will come to my bed for a cuddle, sometimes falls asleep or rubs his little head against my hand. It's usually a 10 minute thing. Sometimes he stays half an hour (my heart).

So he will do this for a couple of weeks straight and then stop. I wonder every time if I have done something to upset him! Then I remember it goes in cycles and he has other stuff to do. Who knows.

Sometimes he licks my hand like I'm a cat too and I say thank you.

I hope he is happy.

Girl cat will yawn, stretch and stretch out her paw to get a 'high five' when she wakes up and sees me in the room

I don't know what I'd do without the little monsters

Elton is the most loving (needy)boy in the world so I get lots of kisses and cuddles 🙂. My favourite moment is after we've all settled down at night ( he sleeps on his pillow above our heads). I raise my arm and tuck my hand into his belly, whilst he wraps his long furry spider legs around my wrist and rests his head on my arm. I'm no longer sure who's comforting who! Sadly it doesn't last long, as I get cramp in my shoulder but whilst it does it's magical. Photo is him loving on my DH - similar pose not as cool as my night time snuggle

I’ve just got home and my girl’s rubbing her cheeks all over me while purring. I must be thoroughly marked now as her human.

Yup @Puppylucky he wraps front paws around my arm and vigorously grooms my hand. TBH, I don't really like it and squirm re hygiene aspect but put up with it! I'm my own biggest hypocrite because I'll often find myself absentmindedly kissing his ears with pursed lips when he's settled himself all the way along my torso to under my chin.

Bluebell my 21 year old cat now RIP would lie next to me on the big sofa with her paw on my hand. She always had to be touching me. It was adorable.

My old cat used wrap her legs around my arm and cuddle me. At night she would lie on my chest as I fell asleep.

One of my current cats will curl up asleep in the crook of my arm, he's a huge male cat and my arm hurts after a while but it's so sweet.
