female cat much happier.

I feel really sad, my gorgeous ginger tom has not been seem for 5 weeks now and i have assumed the worse. BUT, my black and white female seems to be thriving without him?

Poppy (B&W) and Sinki (Ginger) never really got on, they lived in the same house but Poppy would keep herself to herself, she's always been very shy and doesn't like to be round people. Poppy and Sinki tolerated each other, but he was much younger and all he wanted to do was play whereas Poppy is a more demure cat and likes to keep warm and sleep.

But now Sinki is not here, she's really comeing out of her shell, she seems to be loving being in a single cat household, she's gained some weight, she's more sociable and friendly and she even has mad half hours with the zoomies which we've never seen before.

I really want my Ginger puss back, but i also love the way Poppy is behavining

Poppy has buried Sinki under the patio

Genuinely believe cats prefer single cat households. I’d love to rescue lots of cats, but I only have one at a time as IME they’re much happier solo.

I think this too, unless they are adopted as a bonded pair or siblings

perhaps so... they were together for 3 years.. and Sinki has always been a wanderer

I know I will need a hard hat for this, but I hope the worst-case is that Sinki has found a new home, because the alternative is too sad (that's if he doesn't stroll back in at 3am now you have posted)

Has Sinki come back @thursdaymurderclub

User364837 · 08/09/2024 11:38

Well tbh if he has been gone 5 weeks, it’s not impossible at all but it’s not looking great I’d say. It’s sad but it seems like maybe it’s a silver lining that she is happier and hopefully that can bring you some joy.

Crazykefir · 08/09/2024 11:40

Is he chipped. Hopefully he has been cat napped by a neighbour.

thursdaymurderclub · 27/09/2024 11:08

i just wanted to pop back and say HES BACK! nearly 3 months later and he wandered in very vocal at about 8.30 last night! he's a bit grubby, not as grubby as i would have expected and he's certainly been fed by someone.

he stayed on my bed all night last night, and i'm going to give him the day for rest and shall get him checked over and get all his flea and worming stuff upto date later this evening... just trying to decide on a pet tracker or not

That's amazing that he's returned after so long - do you think he got lost or someone shut him in? What a relief.

Is your other cat devastated?

shes not impressed but so far they are being cordial.. hes eating like a horse at the moment, so have given him his wormer and he chose to use the littler tray i quickly put down last night rather than go out. he seems to need company and follows us round the house.

to be honest, i have no idea.. he's grubby but doesnt look like hes been living too rough and he's not lost any weight so he's clearly been eating.. im torn now on what to do, he can come and go, the cat flap is open but at the moment he is showing no signs of wanting out..

female cat much happier.

glad he is back and safe

Pudmyboy · 27/09/2024 17:21

Glad to see him safe and sound as not knowing what has happened is so stressful. I hope this doesn't set your little girl back, maybe the gap where she has had the house to herself will make her more confident with him...... time will tell of course!
He is handsome!
(There's quite a few threads involving ginger-and-white cats at the moment, they are all handsome of course!)

OlderGlaswegianLivingInDevon · 27/09/2024 17:24

aw i love a happy ending.

Pudmyboy · 06/10/2024 00:56

How are your cats doing @thursdaymurderclub ?
Hope they are both happy and your girl has asserted herself with your gorgeous boy 😺

Sinki (the ginger peril is clean and upto date with is flea and worming now), he seems content and happy to be here and has taken to sleeping on my feet in bed! Poppy, the girl is ok, she's gone back into her shell, and spends most of her time sleeping out of sight but shes ok and we are making sure we make a special fuss of her.

Esgaroth · 08/10/2024 10:48

Aw, lovely to hear about Sinki doing so well.

Hopefully Poppy is not too put out. I think some cats just do prefer to be single, but I bet she's enjoying the special fuss.

TheCultureHusks · 08/10/2024 10:51

Yep happened here!

Dancing on the grave, literally.

Most cars are happier not sharing their territory

TheCultureHusks · 08/10/2024 10:52

Oh sorry just saw update. ‘How lovely’ 😒 says Poppy

Do you have a room you could put a microchip cat flap on so poppy has somewhere she can go that he can't.

to be honest they have their own spaces... agreed i guess by the pair when he arrived 3 years ago!..

he's young and full of life and wants to play with her, she is now getting on in years and just wants to hog the hottest item available to her!

they both avoid each others spaces, but when they come together, say meeting in the hall or on the stairs, thats where the confrontation comes!

I feed them separately, mainly cos he's stuch a greedy pig he would leave nothing for her!

thursdaymurderclub · 10/10/2024 16:57

aw dont make me feel even worse! i love poppy and i love sinki, i wish i'd never actually 'saved' sinki... cos i ruined poppy's life?

i can't re-home sinki.. cos that makes me to be a horrible person!
