I feel really sad, my gorgeous ginger tom has not been seem for 5 weeks now and i have assumed the worse. BUT, my black and white female seems to be thriving without him?

Poppy (B&W) and Sinki (Ginger) never really got on, they lived in the same house but Poppy would keep herself to herself, she's always been very shy and doesn't like to be round people. Poppy and Sinki tolerated each other, but he was much younger and all he wanted to do was play whereas Poppy is a more demure cat and likes to keep warm and sleep.

But now Sinki is not here, she's really comeing out of her shell, she seems to be loving being in a single cat household, she's gained some weight, she's more sociable and friendly and she even has mad half hours with the zoomies which we've never seen before.

I really want my Ginger puss back, but i also love the way Poppy is behavining

aw dont make me feel even worse! i love poppy and i love sinki, i wish i'd never actually 'saved' sinki... cos i ruined poppy's life?

i can't re-home sinki.. cos that makes me to be a horrible person!

Oh it is such a heartbreak! You can't have known they would not get on when you saved Sinki, they may have turned out to be besties for all you knew, don't feel bad for doing the right thing!
Though....do you know anyone who would give either one a perfect home? Someone you know would adore whichever one it was and allow visits?
Otherwise it seems like you are doing the best possible job of keeping both as happy as you can in the current circumstances 😻

Aw, hope it’s a truce !

AltitudeCheck · 11/10/2024 22:12

They're both gorgeous and hopefully she's secretly missed him ❤️

You mentioned he's a tom... he might become a bit less boisterous and less prone to wandering if you get him neutered.

Genuinely believe cats prefer single cat households. I’d love to rescue lots of cats, but I only have one at a time as IME they’re much happier solo.

This is what my vet friend said when we were getting a cat - her advice was to get one because there’s no guarantee they’ll get on (even siblings) and they’re likely on average to be happier alone.

OP - I’m sorry to hear about your missing cat

he is neutered? do you not refer to a male cat (with or without his bits) a tom? lol

i actually agree with you... all i want is happiness for my pets and i hate that sinki is missing but i love that poppy is happy...

i am heart broken he is gone.. i have no closure and can only wonder..

I ‘lost ‘a cat briefly with me, one of my ex’s, didn’t keep her in long enough semi feral, spotted unable to be trapped.
Chipped to both of our addresses, so if she was found she would have had a home.
Was ok with that
