New thread for the inmates of Toddler Towers. Strange to think, it's about two completely different cats, from the original
Thread. But Magic, Maia and Cheddar will never be forgotten.

They've had some noisy fights today. Couldn't work out why, when things had been going better. Then it suddenly struck me that Pads hasn't really had many toys to play with. He's shredded all his cat nip toys so they got binned. And his plastic springs had all disappeared. Got some more out and he's happily playing with them. So hopefully he'll burn off energy now.

Penelope took up residence in the sink again last night. Then spent part of the night curled up in the bath. Not sure if this is progress or not. Pads has backed off since I got his toys out again. And the fights don't seem to bother her, like they used too. But she's still scared of him.

Do you think she could be too hot? It's probably nice and cool in the sink 🙂

Pixiedust1234 · 12/08/2024 11:38

But she's still scared of him.
I would be scared of something three times my size ambushing and jumping on me, even without malice, to be honest. She won't be able to relax until he starts leaving her alone so getting him more toys is an excellent start.

I have read on here that cats like to lie in sinks when they have a uti. Is that possible, especially since she's been holding onto her wees because he's around?

Toddlerteaplease · 12/08/2024 12:27

She's always quite liked the sink. I was struggling to bond with her last year, because we had such a stressful start, then I caught her in the sink, and I absolutely fell in love with her.

I think she feels safe in it.

@LadyGrillingSole her windowsill is the hottest place in the house!

Feel free to ignore me, Toddler, I don't know my arse from my elbow when it comes to cats! I know your cats are beautiful, but my knowledge ends there 😀

Toddlerteaplease · 12/08/2024 14:34

@LadyGrillingSole thanks. They are bith lovely cats!

Penelope in the sink won my heart. My favourite photos of her.

Toddlerteaplease · 12/08/2024 15:32

Someone is pretty chilled!

Came home to
A huge poo on my bed. Fortunately I'd put a throw over it!) so they'd obviously had issues. I've noticed that things are worse if I'm on nights. So I've popped Pebble in the spare room. Which is where her stuff is anyway. So she can have a quiet night. Beginning to loose hope that this can work out.

Penelope spent the night on the bath again. But was the happiest I've seen her in a while.Though I'm wondering if her teeth are bothering her again. She a dose of metacam yesterday as she seemed miserable. Though it could have been the heat. As my house is very hot upstairs.

She doesn't seem that happy at the moment does she. Which is a great pity. Is she drinking enough since it's so hot?

Loved her relaxed photo on the window sill, all those little toes 😍

Toddlerteaplease · 15/08/2024 14:16

No she really doesn't. She's drinking plenty. I don't know what to do for the best. If this is ever going to improve.

I think the only way to know for sure is if you can find a friend who will have Paddington for a week, or funds for the cattery. If she suddenly blossoms and goes everywhere in the house you will have your answer. If she doesn't then I guess it's an underlying medical problem, but at least you will know which direction to concentrate on. Sorry, this must really suck Flowers

Toddlerteaplease · 15/08/2024 15:18

The rescue lady messaged me last week, to say that another cat, who came from the same place as Pen had tested positive for some weird virus or something. And that her first issue was with her eyes. So next time she goes to the vet. I'll mention it.
I think most of this behaviour is due to her past trauma. And I'm not sure how to fix it!

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 15/08/2024 17:58

She did a huge yawn and one of her teeth is looking inflamed. So will pop her along to the vet for a dental check.

Moved the feliway into my room, from
The landing. And had a lovely peaceful night, with them both on my bed. No issues except having to cut Pens claws at 2am, as she kept poking me in the face. 🤣

Have you considered rubbing Pads with catnip? He’d be chilled, she
might suddenly see him in a new
light ….

Toddlerteaplease · 16/08/2024 12:40

Good idea. He absolutely loves the stuff

OP posts:
Toddlerteaplease · 16/08/2024 21:03

She seems loads happier, she was looking a bit smug earlier. So wonder if it was the heat after all. Moving the feliway has also definitely helped.

Pads's reaction to being told his waistline is expanding.
