New thread for the inmates of Toddler Towers. Strange to think, it's about two completely different cats, from the original
Thread. But Magic, Maia and Cheddar will never be forgotten.

@Breadcat24 yep. I'd have loads of spare cash!

I've come home to two happy and settled cats. Penelope is marching up and down. Loudly telling me she needs to be fed immediately.

Lovely to see them getting stuck into their dinner!

Toddlerteaplease · 25/10/2024 20:28

I think she's gone after a toy. Paddington didn't fit under there. Penelope is watching her like 🤔🤔🙄

@SoDoffYourHat she's abandoned cuddles with me, in favour of watching Dotty play.

It really sounds as though they are getting comfortable around each other

Don't think I put this pic of her at the vet yesterday!

That's a proper Halloween pic!

Dirty is very chilled and very happy with life. She's never had a house or a human of her own before. She's such a lovely affectionate little thing

She is gorgeous, and looks so calm and settled. Thank you for giving her a loving home, please ignore the negativity on this thread, as a previous poster has said, those people can start their own threads rather than try for a pile-on to a very experienced cat owner and rescuer!

I am a litter tray regular. I have also worked with cats for years. I don't doubt the OP wants it to work out but we are allowed to be concerned about cats here on the litter tray. The OP knew Penelope didn't like boys but still went ahead with getting one which cause a lot of stress to Penelope and the cat predictably had to be returned. The OP then got a new cat very quickly without giving Penelope time to settle. I really do hope it works out and they will then both have a good home, but as someone that loves cats and sees the consequences of ill thought out decisions about animals regularly, I can't help but feel the rescue and OP have not acted in the best interests of all 3 cats.

Well, Paddington got to be in a loving home rather than stuck in a rescue till the right place came up, he is now somewhere that is perfect for him, and now Dottie is for the very first time, experiencing a true home, and Penelope gets to be top cat. Sounds like @Toddlerteaplease has done a brilliant job for all of the cats, so deserves three cheers rather than being sniped at!

Toddlerteaplease · 25/10/2024 21:42

Well I've been abandoned by both of them now. They've both decided to stay downstairs instead of coming to bed. 😰

I think it should be discussed. Like the pp, I've had lots of involvement in rescue and see bad decisions impacting animals regularly.

If you have been following Toddler Towers you must know that what happened with Paddington was a blip which worked out really well for him, and that Dottie and Penelope are settling in well together. Stop trying to paint Toddlertea in a bad light, she really knows her stuff.
You and California could start a thread on bad decisions and the impacts they have, and open the topic up to the whole of the Litter Tray, it would be interesting to hear stories about that, but being tucked into Magnificent Moustaches is not best place for it.

Soubriquet · 25/10/2024 21:49

At the end of the day Toddler, it’s YOUR house and YOUR cats. Anyone who objects can leave the thread if they have a problem. Least this time Miss Pen seems to find her company good

News flash!! This is my current view! Both purring.

People can post where they like, you don't own the thread. 🙄

It would have been better for Paddington to go straight to a suitable home rather than to a home which was unlikely to suit him as it had an existing cat who only liked girls.

I'm not trying to post anyone in a bad light. I've just stated the facts and said that some decisions made by some rescues and owners are not in the cats best interest. Getting a boy cat when an existing cat only likes girls was a crazy decision and then putting a stressed out cat through bringing another cat into the home so soon is also questionable. I do hope it works out obviously, I just wish people would think more.

Or we can stay.

SoDoffYourHat · 25/10/2024 22:55

Your posts are helping no-one, Saturday. Toddler was heartbroken at having to let Pads go; now she is very sensibly focusing on helping Dotty settle with Pen, which seems to be going really well. This thread is about the Toddler cats, you are trying to derail it with arguments that would be best on their own thread, as others have observed.

PinkSparklyPussyCat · 25/10/2024 23:12

You’ve made your point @SaturdayMorningRun, only one other poster agrees with you so can’t you just leave it now? You seem to have it in for Toddler for some reason.

WhatToDoAboutCat · 25/10/2024 23:17

I've just written a long thread and it's disappeared. 🤬

Short version. A stray cat, abandoned by owners is currently in our care. He has no microchip, we've put up notices locally and online and it appears a family has abandoned the poor little fella. The vet estimates he's about 2 years old.

We'd be happy to keep him but we have a couple of days a week where no one is around much. We've only ever had older cats who are happy to sleep all day, so they were not bothered at being left.

This little boy is very playful and loves attention so I'm worried he'll be lonely and bored when he's left. We'd love to keep him really, but not if we're not the right home for him. What do you think? We don't have any neighbours that could pop in, we're in the middle of nowhere really so a cat sitter probably won't be that easy to find either. What would you do? Every day he is here we're getting more attached so we need to either decide we're keeping him or find him a new home. How do we do that? I'd be nervous to use pet rehoming sites and everyone we know has cats or dogs already and aren't looking for another.

Help!

WhatToDoAboutCat · 25/10/2024 23:18

And now I've managed to post on someone else's thread. Sorry, I'll ask for it to be deleted and post again. 🤦🏻‍♀️

I agree with @SaturdayMorningRun and the other poster. It was irresponsible. This board can be a bit cliquey so probably a lot of people won't say what they're thinking about a regular poster. I almost didn't but thought fuck it.

learieonthewildmoor · 26/10/2024 06:32

Saturday morning run and Beautiful lyrics are:

  1. arguing with someone they think is wrong On The Internet
  2. repeating advice that’s already been rejected
For some people being Right is very very important. They really enjoy an opportunity to demonstrate their virtue and cleverness, even if it’s at some else’s expense. Toddler gets to choose what’s right for her, based on her own judgement. Continuing to argue the toss is really unhelpful and unpleasant.

As for me, I’ll make suggestions if Toddler asks for advice; and otherwise tune in daily to see Dotty and Pen.

I was actually trying to be helpful, you obviously feel strongly about this issue and so it deserves to have a thread of it's own where it will reach the widest audience, which will include all the posters on this thread plus the wider Litter Tray community

They're in league now and secretly plotting together - be careful! 😄
