Do you dry your cat?

Ours has just come in soaking from the garden so I towelled him off, is that normal?

My cat comes in soaked and sits on her towel until I dry her, she's a diva!

fieldsofbutterflies · 09/07/2024 21:17

I do two of them if they're soaked, but one would probably savage me if I even tried 😂

Davros · 09/07/2024 21:18

No because she goes under the garden table if it's raining

evilharpy · 09/07/2024 21:19

Yes because if I don't he will take himself off to sleep, soaking wet, in one of the beds.

AquaFurball · 09/07/2024 21:20

Three of mine love being wrapped up and dried. One of them demands it when she comes in wet. The fourth acts like a towel is a weapon of torture but she gets dried regardless because she will head straight onto my bed!

Crinklycrisp · 09/07/2024 21:22

My cat doesn't go out if it's raining. I doubt he's ever got wet.

NormalAuntFanny · 09/07/2024 21:24

Yes, often with kitchen roll which he hates: it's catch, try to hold and rub till he escapes. Otherwise he sits on the cleanest bed sheet.

Hobbesmanc · 09/07/2024 21:30

My have really dense fur so they tend not to get too wet but one of them is a proper water baby and often wades through the little beck at the bottom of the garden. He gets his paws dried with a tea towel.

MaidOfAle · 09/07/2024 21:34

I dry DCat and he hates when I do his paws. He's fine with me drying the rest of him.

Bobskeleton · 09/07/2024 21:35

No my cats don't get wet, they can barely bring themselves to tip toe around on the wet patio 🙄

But I had a big fluffy cat when I was a little girl and he loved getting wet in the rain. His fur was so thick it needed a quick rub down with a towel. He wasn't amused.

CalpolOnToast · 09/07/2024 21:42

One of mine loves it and one won't put up with it at all!

Breadcat24 · 09/07/2024 21:46

Mine comes in to tell me she has got wet at all hours i sort of stroke / squeegee her dry . that seems viewed as acceptable

Toddlerteaplease · 10/07/2024 06:38

I used to do it with my late girls. They loved it.

EasterlyDirections · 10/07/2024 06:57

One of them has very thick fur and doesn't notice she's getting wet but will come and climb on your lap so she does get a quick towel down but not detailed, I don't do her legs or tummy just back and sides maybe the top of her head. The other avoids going out in the rain, she has much thinner fur.

helpfulperson · 10/07/2024 07:11

Of course. After I've asked them 'who's a soggy moggy?'

CrunchyCarrot · 10/07/2024 07:13

Yes, mine demands it! He'll yowl loudly until I do so.

Usually! I wasn’t fast enough yesterday and he beat me up the stairs. Soon discovered him rolling around on my bed. He is jet black and fluffy. Envy

Daleksatemyshed · 10/07/2024 09:55

Mine stands on the window sill until you towel her dry, she loves it, it's all fuss to her

Oldraver · 10/07/2024 11:08

I have done cat drying mits, look like oven gloves but soft fluffy microfibre

The cat I bought it for lived being dried and we swore he got wet on purpose

Current cats.....hell would freeze over before they would let me dry them, not that ever go out in the rain

Shufflebumnessie · 10/07/2024 11:58

One of ours leads me to the cupboard where the cat towel is kept and loves to be dried. If I don't dry him correctly, he is very put out.
The other flattens her body to floor and slinks away if she so much as sees the towel!

KittenKaboodle · 11/07/2024 21:21

(Un?)fortunately mine seems entirely oblivious to rain and regularly spends hours out in it, returning absolutely sodden. She likes to dry herself on my legs.

I tried a towel once. Never again.

TheDefiant · 11/07/2024 22:07

Both mine get dried when they come in wet. One loves it, the other tolerates it but if soaking loves it.

They get so wet their fur gets all pointy. They look so bedraggled.

They have their own towels. 😆

Twattergy · 11/07/2024 22:16

Yes we keep an old tea towel for this purpose. She purrs when we do it, and lets you dry her for a while...but after a minute or so she starts lashing out or trying to attack the towel. It's quite fun. She also dries herself by rolling on the carpet. But we try and get rid of most of it before she gets on a bed.

Purplecatshopaholic · 11/07/2024 22:30

Only one of mine would go out in the rain and then only by accident. If it has the cheek to rain while she is checking her territory she’ll sit under the garden furniture until she can make a run for it, lol.
