Yes. Traditional tabby markings are a whorl on the sides, mackerel tabby has stripes instead.

She's delighted to be mackerel! She is a very typical tabby I'd say - feisty, brave, detests all other cats but super loving to humans. Until she's had enough of them and then she just bites them

I have one too! He is 6kg and just huge. His mum is a Bengal and his dad is the local MASSIVE black and white Tom cat.

I’ve never heard this term before but he is exactly those markings. Ahhh our cats would have beautiful babies 😻 I mean, mines neutered but you know!

Do we think tabby cats are big ? Not necessarily fat (although I love a chubby cat) but just big cats. My tabby boy is tall and really solid. He has giant feet! and I have to say I have yet to meet a dainty tabby cat

Yes I think so. That said, my Melania tic tabby girl is very very di it and petite. But the boy is simply huge. His paws are like dinner plates. When he jumps on the bed we def know about it!!

I have known three different tabby cats who have been petite and didn't look like an adult. My rescue looked a year old even when she was seven. All three were girls though.

The tabby I know isn't big as such but he's a properly chonky boy.
