Cat v. poorly, might not make it

Hello, just looking for a handhold, spent the night up with my lovely cat who turned up after being missing for a day and was clearly in a very bad way, couldn't figure out if he'd been hit by a car or poisoned or what. Called emergency vets last night but no answer, finally managed to get him seen first thing and his bladder was massive (bladder stones) but the vet was not kitted out to treat him, had to take him to next town to a clinic where they are operating now but no guarantee of a good outcome as he is so weak. He's the best cat, of course I know cats don't live forever but not ready to do without his good morning headbutts.

Handhold here. I really hope he makes it and they can make him better 💙💙💙

Thanks for your kind messages, he’s not doing great, they’ve emptied his bladder but it was full of blood and from the blood tests his kidneys are in a bad way (which is what tends to happen with this problem). He’s only 8, a beautiful, docile ginger tom, apparently neutered ginger cats are at very high risk of this. I had been away for work for a couple of days but he seemed fine on Tuesday evening, didn’t eat a lot but he’s a bit of a fussy eater so that’s nothing out of the ordinary. My kids didn’t notice anything wrong but then we didn’t see him until Wednesday evening by which point he was really suffering. The clinic has visiting hours in the evening so at least I can go and give him a wee stroke and he’ll know we’ve not abandoned him.

Oh no poor lad. Fingers crossed for him.

@Pudmyboy nothing really changed, he was still in the same condition yesterday. I spoke to the vet who is looking after him and she underlined how serious it is (although I only took in about half of what she said, standing in front of my poor suffering cat in a room full of sick animals in cages my brain didn’t seem to work properly. It all made sense as she said it, but then it was gone). Going to see him at midday today but the kids have just left on holiday with their dad so I’m on my own to deal with everything.

He was ever so slightly better when I saw him yesterday, a little bit more upright and he responded with his head to my cuddles a couple of times, so feeling a bit more hopeful. No visits on Sundays but I can phone in the afternoon for an update. Thanks to all of you for your continued moral support, I really appreciate it!
