Cat v. poorly, might not make it

Hello, just looking for a handhold, spent the night up with my lovely cat who turned up after being missing for a day and was clearly in a very bad way, couldn't figure out if he'd been hit by a car or poisoned or what. Called emergency vets last night but no answer, finally managed to get him seen first thing and his bladder was massive (bladder stones) but the vet was not kitted out to treat him, had to take him to next town to a clinic where they are operating now but no guarantee of a good outcome as he is so weak. He's the best cat, of course I know cats don't live forever but not ready to do without his good morning headbutts.

Really hope he pulls through. I’ve lost two cats and they were old or very old girls so know how rotten it is to have to say goodbye. 💐🤞🏻

Really pleased to hear that there has been some improvement. Keeping fingers crossed for you and him that it continues.

OldSpeclkledHen · 16/06/2024 09:31

I never knew vet's had visiting hours - that's great!

Fingers X'd he continues to improve 🩷🩷

Yesterday he seemed so sad I feared the worst but I saw him today and he was much more cheerful - moving around, purring like a crazy thing, making biscuits with his wee paws. He still isn't interested in eating though. Tomorrow they'll take out the catheter and check his renal function, I'm feeling much more hopeful now!
@OldSpeclkledHen it's new to me too. I'm not in the UK so I don't know if that makes a difference, but I've got to say the difference in him between yesterday when he hadn't seen me for two days and today was enormous, and I think it must make a difference that he knows he's not been forgotten about. They let me stay for nearly an hour today!

Aw that is so good to hear.

Floralnomad · 18/06/2024 22:18

Hope he continues to improve

LostCats · 19/06/2024 09:09

How lovely. I do hope he starts to feel better and better.

Ohthere · 19/06/2024 17:15

Doing so much better, one of the vets said he is a medical miracle, they’ve seen many cats with creatinine levels as high as his but very few who recovered. Today it’s back within the normal range and he’s grooming himself and even ate a couple of biscuits while I was with him! They’ll keep him in two more nights and I can take him home on Friday! So thank you all for your thoughts, I reckon they made all the difference❤️
