Cat missing

Hi all. Ipek has disappeared again. Have done the usual litter outside.. checked the usual. He's definitley not in the shed this time.

I went down the road to check a grassy area he plays in and found a big clump.of white fur. I'm assuming it's his as its not far from our front door and haven't seen any other white cats around here. It was a fair chunk So now I'm a bit worried.

I havent seen any other cats apart from one Black one and they avoid each other...

How long's he been gone for? It's so worrying. When you hopefully find him, put a tracker on him so you don't have the worry.

DontBiteTheCat · 25/05/2024 22:06

Oh that must be worrying for you. Could he have caught himself on something that’s pulled his fur out? How long has he been missing?

If he’s hurt he may be hiding, can you go out with a torch now it’s dark and check under bushes etc? I hope he’s home soon x

Poorlycatadvicewanted · 25/05/2024 22:18

Irs literally only been a couple of hours. But he's a creature of habit. So I went checking for him and found the fur. Been out with a torch and food searching but no sign.
I found it on the grass next to the path. Literally nothing to hook on too.

We have a tractive tracker but it's huge and he struggles to to run with it so he doesn't use it..kicking myself now!

Is he microchipped? If he is hurt maybe someone took him to a vet?

I’m sure you have already but check any local community Facebook groups, we get a lot of posts in ours about animals being lost/found.

Poorlycatadvicewanted · 25/05/2024 22:41

Yes he is. I've reported him missing on identibase. And the local Facebook page.

I know it hasn't been long. But its not like him. He's Normally jumping around my garden catching spiders now.

You know your cat, it doesn’t matter how long it’s been x

I hope it’s something minor and he’s just licking his wounds somewhere nearby. It’s such a worry, my cat went missing last summer - completely out of character, she is always in by around 6pm but for some reason this time she stayed out all night and just waltzed in the next morning. Never done it since. Keeping everything crossed he comes back soon x

Poorlycatadvicewanted · 25/05/2024 22:56

Thank you @DontBiteTheCat kids are quite upset. He sleeps on DDs bed. So she's refusing to go to bed without him

I hope he comes back. But as @DontBiteTheCat said, you know your cat. When DP first moved in, he thought I was being mad and junior cat would come back, and it hadn't been that long. I knew something was up as it didn't fit her behaviour patterns. It was bonfire night, amd we were due to go out. I refused, and we spent the evening round the back alley with my phone torch and a step ladder and eventually found her behind a shed a few doors down. He listens to my instincts now.

Best of luck.

Floralnomad · 25/05/2024 23:10

Hope he is back soon 💐

Poorlycatadvicewanted · 25/05/2024 23:11

Thank you. It's too late to go out again now. Dh is at work. Kids in bed. I will get up early and search again in the morning

murasaki · 25/05/2024 23:13

Open the back door in the morning, put some biscuits down inside, shake a dreamie bag outside then go in leaving the door open, and hopefully he'll be back. They do twist your heartstrings, don't they.

Poorlycatadvicewanted · 25/05/2024 23:17

Thank you @murasaki he doesn't go far normally. I can normally call his name and he runs in. Kids are finally asleep after a lot of tears. Even they know it's not normal for him.

Called dh and asked him to keep an eye out when he gets home tonight. Even he was upset and he didn't like him much in the begining.

murasaki · 25/05/2024 23:20

Sounds like a very similar scenario to my household. Try to sleep, and hopefully he'll be back in the morning, wandering in without a care in the world and not noticing that you've been worrying. Cats, that's what they do. And is partly why we love them.

TabithaTimeTurner · 25/05/2024 23:20

Big chunk of fur could be a fight, in which case he’s probably scared and hiding. Hopefully he’ll be back tomorrow 🤞

Poorlycatadvicewanted · 25/05/2024 23:30

Yes, I'm waiting for dh to finish work. Will then go ti bed and set alarm for early morning. .
Thanks everyone

Do try to sleep, and please do let us know. Been there done that, as it were. Wishing you all good things.

Poorlycatadvicewanted · 26/05/2024 01:01

It's absolutely tipping it down now. Dh had a look when he got home in the rain. But no sign

OP posts:
WetBandits · 26/05/2024 01:04

Probably hunkered down somewhere dry if it’s raining! ❤️

Mine did this to me the other night, absolutely refused to come in and then blamed me in the morning for missing his dinner despite me being awake most of the night in a panic. He left pieces of pigeon scattered across the garden in protest Envy

I hope your boy is back in the morning!

Poorlycatadvicewanted · 26/05/2024 06:35

Off out to look for him now.

OP posts:
Startingagainandagain · 26/05/2024 07:13

Really hope you find him!

Poorlycatadvicewanted · 26/05/2024 07:21

Just got back in. Still no sign. I have messaged the road group again asking to check sheds and garages etc. No one replied last night..doubt they will this morning. Unless someone's moaning about parking they probably won't reply.

I'm actually really upset. We have a big event this evening that we are hosting and I really don't want to go now.

OP posts:
DontBiteTheCat · 26/05/2024 08:37

Your boy was the first thing I thought about this morning when I woke up. I’m so sorry you haven’t found him yet.

I know it might not be the done thing, but I’d be knocking on every single neighbours door and asking them to check their outbuildings. Do you have a printer to make up some posters?

Poorlycatadvicewanted · 26/05/2024 08:41

We have a road whatsapp group. We are all on there. Have messaged them all and they have all seen it. Not a single person has replied. Not even a, oh yes will have a look. Or no haven't seen him. Nothing!

If it was me I would have replied saying will keep a look out or that I would check my garage. Just very cold!!

I do have a printer and a laminator. If no sign by this evening, I will do that.

I'm going to go look again in a little but.

There was a bloody seagull that sounded like a cat but like screaming. I swear I thought it was my ipek stressed. I dropped the rubbish bags and shouted his name and ran in that direction then watched the bloody seagull make that noise.

I'm sure the neighbours are watching me and thinking I'm a loon!

OP posts:
Poorlycatadvicewanted · 26/05/2024 08:41

He sometimes hangs out in my neighbours garden. She normally replies quite quickly if we ever message. But she's not replied either.

OP posts:
Poorlycatadvicewanted · 26/05/2024 10:03

Oh my days! We just all got suited and booted to look for him. We opened the door and he rocks up and waltzes in!

Think we have learn our lesson now. Don't panic until it's been a couple of days!
