Cat not come home 😞

When do you start to worry? I’m panicking now, she was last seen on our ring camera at midday but I haven’t seen her since and it’s dinner time, she’s usually here an hour before begging for food. She does venture off but usually comes back after a couple of calls but I’ve been doing this for the last hour and nothing. I’m panicking she won’t be back for night time, she’s a little friendly cat I’m just so worried about her. What do I do if now sign by dark?!

Aww I feel for you. I hate it when my cats go AWOL. If you saw her at midday then it's not been a long time yet though and she may just have found something very interesting! Try to keep calm and rational for a couple more hours and hopefully she'll come home when she senses it's getting to the evening.
My generally obedient and food motivated cats have been known to completely ignore my calls, even when I can see them in other people's gardens!

Definitelylivedin · 21/05/2024 17:06

If I saw them midday I wouldn't worry until nightfall, and even then I'd just check our outbuildings.

I certainly wouldn't put out lost pet notices until they had been missing at least 24 hours.

Ours often take themselves off hunting for a bit.

We had a cat disappear once and re-appear 3 months later.

🙄

I have constructive advise about things to do

but no i wouldn’t have taken DC to hunt for a missing cat who has only fairly recently been allowed out

PhilosophicalCheeseSandwich · 21/05/2024 17:12

One of mine disappears for 24-36 hours every time the field behind our house is cut. We think she goes on a massive mouse bender. She comes back hungry and in need of a good brushing.

neverwakeasleepingbaby · 21/05/2024 17:12

Has she actually only been recently allowed out? In that case I really wouldn't worry, so many interesting things to see!
Please don't panic, there's an extremely high chance she'll come back soon!

She hasn’t recently been allowed out I don’t know where you got that idea from?

No she’s been going out for months, anyway the search led to nothing, I may be a bit premature posting and our local fb page is quite good at posting cats they think may be lost, I have caught he climbing into the back of cars before so that’s my one worry, that she’s got into a delivery van or something!

If she has got into a vehicle, whoever finds her in there isn't likely to want to keep her. They'll take her to a vet and you'll go and retrieve her. I think that's very unlikely though, she'll just be off on a jolly. And she can probably hear you calling her.

I’ve just read your posts (all of them) and seems you’re a little bored today as you’re going around winding people up on every thread you can find!

I don’t see the problem with taking the DC out to look.
