When do you start to worry? I’m panicking now, she was last seen on our ring camera at midday but I haven’t seen her since and it’s dinner time, she’s usually here an hour before begging for food. She does venture off but usually comes back after a couple of calls but I’ve been doing this for the last hour and nothing. I’m panicking she won’t be back for night time, she’s a little friendly cat I’m just so worried about her. What do I do if now sign by dark?!

Don’t worry. My cat was indoor for 10 years as I lived in a flat. Before anyone asks she didn’t ask to go out. Let her out my rental house that had a lovely garden. Shaved tendering but came back when I called. Just moved to a new house, hopefully her forever home, and she pottered about in the garden until yesterday. She got into the building site across the road and explored. Didn’t come back for hours even when called. She must of been having a great time. Came back dirty waiting at the door.

Well thankyou to all you lovely mumsnetters for the reassurance and I feel slightly silly saying this but she’s just casually walked in like nothings happened, feeling slightly silly now but you did help in that moment of panic and I’m hoping if anyone finds this thread that’s going through the same thing can be reassured by this story!

Don’t even begin to worry. We’ve all been there!
I worried so much this past Sunday as young man wasn’t home for hours. Then just before dinner my DS heard him crying at the front door, DS opened it and DCat covered his feet in lick kisses and then ran out into the garden calling for me and DH. Clearly I hadn’t been the only one worried he wouldn’t make it home 😁

Edited to say so so glad your DCat is home!!

Oh I'm so glad your cat is home! I remember ours going missing for a good few hours not long after they were an outside cat and being beside myself with worry and the relief when they came back!
Just recently, a family member's indoor cat snuck out and we were all out searching the surrounding area. They put the litter tray out, their clothing etc etc and the little bugger was sat behind a bin next door!
They're a part of our families, so of course we worry!

Glad she's home. Always a worry the first time they go awol. Mine has disappeared overnight multiple times. Sometimes he comes back looking a but traumatised, other times not. I wish I knew what he was up to.

This is what I keep thinking I would love her to wear a camera but she won’t tolerate a collar! She came home bone dry and it has been raining all day so wondering if she’s visiting another home 😂

Don't worry, just so relieved that she has strolled back in, because now you can pay the cat tax!😸

Cat ownership is so stressful 😅 wouldn't be without them though
