She's got an ulcer on her left eye. Superficial at the moment. But given Magics's issues, I'm not hugely optimistic about it. She on drops and pain relief, and it doesn't seem to be bothering her. I just wish the poor girl could get a break. First her ears, then teeth now this.

My last cat had an ulcerated eye, afer he'd been scratched by another cat (neighbour's). After 3 lots of antibiotics, there was no improvement and he had to have the eye out. He was 18, but he recovered very well and it didn't make any difference to his daily life

Anniegetyourgun · 04/05/2024 14:23

And they are such beautiful eyes too Sad

She'll get on fine with one though, no doubt, if it does come to that.

Toddlerteaplease · 04/05/2024 14:35

My late girl lost her eye from a really nasty ulcer. It didn't bother her in the slightest.

But Penelope has such beautiful, enormous eyes.

I thought she'd be an absolute nightmare with her drops. But she's actually been as good as gold. Once captured that Is!

Well that lasted five minutes. She apparently lost the ability to climb the stairs. And was doing that mincing walk that Hercule Poirot does when played by David Suchet. I did laugh. A lot!

She was sitting at the bottom of the stairs, mewing pitifully.

When will you know if her eye is okay?
I think that photo needs to go into the Disappointed Looks thread 😂

She's got another check on Wednesday. The vet will probably want to debride it if it's not improving. And refer onwards. Her eye is pretty much fully open again. And she's completely back to her normal self. So hopefully feeling better.

Sounds hopeful. Paws crossed for Pen.🐾

NotJohnMajor · 05/05/2024 17:05

When mine had to wear a cone, they did eventually grasp how to make their normal movements.

Toddlerteaplease · 05/05/2024 17:36

Problem is, because she's so little. It almost comes down to her paws. 🤣 like an ankle length skirt.

Poor Pen! Hope it all gets better soon @Toddlerteaplease

CatsonPollock · 05/05/2024 18:08

Poor Penelope!
She looks so cute in the bee collar - but that's small comfort to her I expect! 🐝
Good luck on Wednesday.

I might be imagining it, but the cloudy bit seems smaller. And it's certainly not bothering her. Silly girl hasn't realised, that the best place to stay, if I'm trying to catch her is under the bed. Not in the wardrobe, where she can be easily captured.

Long may she suffer the wardrobe delusion, for your ease. It makes the administration of anything ten times more stressful if you’ve had to chase after the cat beforehand.

I hope her eye recovers soon. She is young and healthy really, that might make a difference. I have to say, she’d melt a heart of stone. Wonder what she’ll make of the parvenu. They’re quite alike.
