My first cat tax!

Our newly adopted rescue cats came home earlier today. The timid one is behind the sofa as we expected (yes we have given up our living room to them - they are already in control) but her bolder sister has emerged, lured with a catnip toy. Meet Trixie. She isn't showing her face quite yet but she is beautiful from any angle!

She is indeed. Wishing you hours of fun and frolics with them.

Sasqwatch · 20/04/2024 15:10

Beautiful 😻😻

fromaytobe · 20/04/2024 15:26

How lovely that you were able to take two together. 🙂

Els1e · 20/04/2024 16:58

She looks beautiful 😻. And quite at home already.

SevenSeasOfRhye · 20/04/2024 17:01

Lovely to have a bonded pair of siblings! I've always had two, but never two that particularly liked each other 😃

MustBeNapTime · 20/04/2024 18:12

Thanks for paying the cat tax. Although you do know this is only 50% payment and at some point you will have to pay the other 50%? I'm afraid the rules are non-negotiable! 😂😍

But, you have a real beauty there and with the effort you put in to make their transition as easy as possible, I am absolutely certain that those two have landed on their lucky paws!

Pudmyboy · 21/04/2024 12:25

Gorgeous kitty, lovely markings, and I hope her fur is as soft as it looks!
Bet her sibling is as cute (gets biscuits and tea and waits...)

Pudmyboy · 21/04/2024 12:26

Also, bet the timid one will eventually be the boss!🐈

25% paid. We've only seen her bum, not her gorgeous face and eyes.

Next are faces (50%) and the two of them looking adorable together (remaining 25%).

Next instalment of tax due - our little timid girl is no longer permanently under the sofa! She comes out occasionally and has put her paws on my daughter. Her new hiding place is a box with a fluffy blanket. We are all besotted.

Beautiful cats!

Congratulations on your new family members. They are beautiful!

helpfulperson · 21/04/2024 13:44

Wow, one black and one tortoiseshell. It won't be peaceful!

RubyDarke · 21/04/2024 16:56

My only concern is that I have to go in to work 3 days this week. How can I work when I have cats at home that need looking at all day long?

NeverDropYourMooncup · 21/04/2024 17:15

Pretty sure that your Void has quite sensibly assessed the sounds, smells and general behaviour of the native population over the last 24 hours and will welcome quiet for further reconnaissance missions.

SevenSeasOfRhye · 21/04/2024 17:17

Oooh, a lovely black girlie has emerged!💜

Quite simply, you can't. You must resign and become a SAHS (Stay At Home Slave). Don't worry, the cats will teach you! 😉

They are both utterly beautiful.

Riverlee · 21/04/2024 18:21

Both lovely.

Trixie's coat is beautiful.

She's a tortie and white, and very gorgeous! I've had several, and currently am bossed around by two of them plus their Maine Coon/Ragdoll brother!

I don't wish to derail the thread, but you said she was tortoiseshell! Which she is quite definitely NOT. The OP's cat has the three distinct colours of a calico.

I have found a couple of Google reference to say that outside of North America, calico cats are sometimes called tortoiseshell-and-white but I have to say that's not a term I have heard as calico is a well known and quite common colour here in the UK.

But whatever you want to call her, tortoiseshell-and-white or calico, she is NOT tortoiseshell as you originally stated but we can agree that she is definitely gorgeous.

From Google:
Tortoiseshell cats only have two types of colors, black and orange (or gray and orange in the dilute version), with no white. A calico cat has an extra gene present for piebalding, which results in white or unpigmented areas on the body of the cat.

Beautiful! You say they are sisters: are they litter mates or sisters-from-the -same-rescue sort? Either way they are lovely and it's so heartening to see them getting out and exploring their new forever home and forever humans 😻

FormerlyPathologicallyHappy · 22/04/2024 11:27

It’ll be interesting to see if black girl is the dominant one and she’s sent calico girl out to test the waters. Calico girl has this far survived so she’s come it.

They do that. Cats are clever.

So beautiful. Like a mini panther. 😻😻
