What plans have you made to prevent them from leaving your garden (assuming they will not be house cats) and threatening the wildlide in your neighbours' properties?

That's so exciting 😍 have you thought about names yet?

Also placemarking for photos 🤣

Awww you’ll have to post photos of them
They will take over your life and house, it’s great!

@Prydddan chill...I didn't realise you were the kitten police 🙄 why assume anything when literally all my post contained was that we're getting kittens & I'm excited?

Not that it's your business (or anyone else's for that matter), they'll be indoor cats - we don't live in an amazing area & I don't want anything to happen to them.

No idea about names yet @MamaWillYouBuyMeAWillYouBuyMeABanana, we need to meet them first. Don't want to pick names, then look & go "actually, you're a Steve, not a Peter" 🤣 (random names, don't worry, it's highly unlikely the girls will actually let me call them Steve and Peter).

😍😍 they look like a Steve AND a Peter to me.

I hope you're prepared for your new job as a member of your cats staff now though.

You mean to stop cats catting? Maybe the OP has netted the sky above her house to stop the starlings flying overhead, of culled the badgers to stop them attacking other animals, or killed off all the great White sharks to stop them attacking the poor walruses.

Oh @lucysmam stop it! You're giving me kitten broodiness and we both know I don't need any more! They're gorgeous, tuxedo cats are the best

@Ellmau not sure, I don't really mind either way I don't think. Although my friend says boys 🤷‍♀️

@Soontobe60 I did not know you could get posh cat litter 🤣

I've been writing myself a list of things to buy - lidded litter tray is a good call!

I'm a bit confused by part of the insurance quote though - I don't understand what it means. The bit circled in blue, if anyone can explain?

Some of them will only pay, say, £1000 per condition.

So if you have 5k insurance, your cat gets a condition that costs 1.5k, they would only pay 1k of that. But you would still be covered for up to 4k of other stuff (so 4 conditions at 1k). That one will pay up to 5k for one condition.

If that makes sense

So if the cat had a second condition, they'd pay up to the £5000 a second time? & I'd pay the £249 a second time (so the £249 is like the excess on home insurance?).

I'm also not sure how much is reasonable to pay 🤔

In your case with it would be up to 5k per year with no limit on the condition.

So if you get that one you could have one condition that costs 3k, and 2 that cost 1k each and you would pay the £249 x3 because its 3 conditions. Or one condition that takes the whole 5k and you'll pay 1x 249.

I have 6k insurance on my cat, with no limit per condition, my excess is significantly lower though.

@MamaWillYouBuyMeAWillYouBuyMeABanana who is that with? I did start out looking at 1k but, it occurred to me that, if something were to happen, 1k would be eaten up quite quickly. I went to GoCompare to see what prices were like.

I'm with LV, they will pay my vet directly, it's probably a good idea to find the vet you'll use and ask them who they accept payments from directly, that will save a load of faffing about from you.

Also check if they have a pet plan, I pay about £13 a month and that covers vaccines, flea and worming stuff, nail clipping, and 10% off bills and a yearly health check.

They're very local so I'll pop in one afternoon next week to enquire. Thank you for explaining how it works!

I was reading about pet plans too - they seem a sensible idea & will save me the brain power of remembering.

Pet plan is the best insurer - we have 2 dogs and a KITTEN.
