Oh @lucysmam stop it! You're giving me kitten broodiness and we both know I don't need any more! They're gorgeous, tuxedo cats are the best

They are aren’t they? This is our much missed boy. He had the hugest amount of character and was soooooo naughty!

I'm so excited! We're getting kittens!!
thaegumathteth · 22/03/2024 22:04

We got brothers in 2019. Best thing we ever did.

Enjoy your curtains whilst they are still entire and not covered in holes.

thaegumathteth · 22/03/2024 22:06

Our boys. They've grown into their ears 😂

@Prydddan chill...I didn't realise you were the kitten police 🙄 why assume anything when literally all my post contained was that we're getting kittens & I'm excited?

Not that it's your business (or anyone else's for that matter), they'll be indoor cats - we don't live in an amazing area & I don't want anything to happen to them.

Pic attached

No idea about names yet @MamaWillYouBuyMeAWillYouBuyMeABanana, we need to meet them first. Don't want to pick names, then look & go "actually, you're a Steve, not a Peter" 🤣 (random names, don't worry, it's highly unlikely the girls will actually let me call them Steve and Peter).

Very glad to hear that they will be indoor cats.
Enjoy!

EmpressaurusOfTheScathingTinsel · 22/03/2024 22:26

Please, please get them spayed / neutered, even if they are indoor cats.

And stock up on cardboard boxes. Cat grass is good too, & really easy to grow.

marmaladeandpeanutbutter · 22/03/2024 22:27

@Prydddan you have no clue how or when to make a point, so I can only assume that you can't help it.

Toddlerteaplease · 22/03/2024 22:38

@lucysmam ask for this thread to be moved to The litter tray. We are all mad cat people. And we will share in your excitement.

I squeaked when I read your title! Congratulations! You are going to have so much fun!

Prydddan · 22/03/2024 20:26

What plans have you made to prevent them from leaving your garden (assuming they will not be house cats) and threatening the wildlide in your neighbours' properties?

Fun sponge. Is it only wildlife being destroyed that we care about? Better stop having children then - humans probably account for the majority of the destruction of all natural habitats with their fucking houses, shops, schools, slave labour for their clothes….but let’s blame it on the kittens. 🤣🤣🤣

Very cute OP, enjoy your kitties and thank you for the photos.
Just make sure you get good insurance. Friend’s cat has had numerous health issues. Vet bills have gone crazy!

Agreed.

As an aside I think Steve and Peter are brilliant names for black and white moggies 😁.

ilovebagpuss · 23/03/2024 08:36

@lucysmam they're so cute! Our local vet did a kitten club thing where you pay a set amount for vaccinations and spay and it worked out cheaper. I kept it for a year it was about £15 a month and included a check up monthly and flea spot on stuff.
Great while they need all that first year stuff or you have any worries.
What a lovely thing to look forward to hopefully there will be an obvious pair that hang out together more.

lucysmam · 23/03/2024 08:47

@RickyGervaislovesdogs my dad was telling me a similar tale a couple of weeks ago, about a former colleague's cat. I'm not sure what makes "good" pet insurance really - plenty of cover?

@ilovebagpuss yes, the kitten club things I've seen seem to be a sensible idea, at least for the first year.

I spent quite a while scrolling cat beds & "things" last night but, in reality, do I need all the things?

ilovebagpuss · 23/03/2024 08:55

My kitty has never once slept in the super soft bed I forked out for. She spent her first 6 months in a box with an old scarf she had taken to inside it!
Few toys, food, good litter station,
Those pop out tunnel toys were a hit running in and out with holes in.
Maybe a good cat tree that doubles as scratching post.

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 23/03/2024 08:55

No. Cat beds are a daft idea in my opinion. Anything they chose is their cat bed.
I'd suggest you get plenty of cardboard boxes and large paper bags, that will keep 2 kittens amused for months.

ilovebagpuss · 23/03/2024 08:57

Picture of said kitten on scarf

Our “kitten” is nearly a year old now and her preferred cat bed is a cardboard box on its side, with rustly paper in it, that I’ve put up on a high shelf for her. She retires to it every night after dinner while we watch tv 😂

CeeJay81 · 23/03/2024 09:03

Aww kittens are the best! We got one last October and she's just fab.

For ages she didn't lie in her cat bed thing, then she did for a month or 2, now she's back to not lying in it. She likes the windowsill or a lap or on the sofa on a blanket, usually next to a human or on a bed lol.

Is this thread another excuse to show off our kitties, if so, here's mine.😁

They are beautiful.
Just ignore the negative poster, there's always one 🙄!!
Enjoy your new fur kids.I love black and white cats, always had them.
Good luck , bet you can't wait to get them home.😹😸

Defiantlynot41 · 24/03/2024 12:27

Rare pic of a cat actually IN a cat bed. Pure coincidence that's it's also in the sunniest window sill in the house, on top of a custom made window seat cushion...

I'm so excited! We're getting kittens!!
Kittenchops · 24/03/2024 12:30

Regarding beds, all my other cats, 5 of them over many years wouldn't even look at their luxury beds.
Hovever, my present cat who was a homeless stret cat for 2 years cannot be prised out of his cat bed.Just shows you 😹

Anniegetyourgun · 24/03/2024 17:26

Cat tree, if they're going to be indoor cats. Gives them something to climb on and probably sleep in. It won't stop them climbing on all sorts of other places as well, of course.

Oh, and very important: scratching post/s. The legs of our cat tree double as scratching posts, but they also have two sisal posts and a couple of corrugated cardboard shapes. Keeps the damage to furniture... manageable.
