Unplanned cat

A few weeks ago we noticed a fluffy cat loitering by the door at work. Very friendly, asking for a fuss, following people to their cars. Still there the next day and the next. We got worried that she didn't seem to be leaving at all, so we put a paper collar on her with our phone number, and posted photos on the neighbourhood Facebook pages and lost cat groups. We found someone with a scanner and found she had no chip. By last Monday we hadn't heard anything, everyone was stressing about the cat sleeping outdoors in the rain at night and it kept darting into the building whenever a door opened.

So, I bit the bullet, asked my landlord's permission and brought her home. She sat under the table briefly but within 3 minutes she was on my daughter's lap. She pretty much stayed attached to her for the next 10 hours, purring and making biscuits.

Although she (I think) is fluffy, underneath the fur there's nothing to her. I can feel her ribs, her spine and the bones in her tail. Her frame is small, so maybe not very old. But her belly is round...

So now I'm waiting for a vet appointment on Monday to estimate her age so I can get insurance and sort tagging and vaccines and find out whether she has any passengers on board...

In the meantime it's very difficult to get anything done with her sitting there looking like this.

Congratulations on your new cat! She’s beautiful.

I would be slightly concerned by the round belly. If she’s not been spayed, she could be pregnant. Eek!

Aww she's gorgeous.

Does sound like she needs worming if her tummy is round but I guess you will have that and flea treatment done at the vets.

Also look at neutering if she isn't pregnant.

She's found her family! Congratulations in becoming a cat slave.

Glad to hear you've got a vet appointment booked in, she could be suffering with all sorts, but pregnancy is highly likely.

Marvellous. The cat distribution system at work is a wonderful thing!

Yeah, since I know she's not chipped and was sleeping rough I figured she won't be spayed or vaccinated.

Normally I would have already wormed and flea treated her but I'm worried about doing anything before I know her age and whether it's safe. For now she has a flea collar and doesn't seem to mind.

It's very exciting 😁

Oh, and if she isn't already pregnant and is old enough, her next appointment will be about keeping it that way.

I'm glad she found you. What are you going to call her? 🥰

My daughter wants to call her Binx like the black cat on Hocus Pocus. She doesn't seem to mind.

Lovely looking cat. Unplanned cats are best (our first one was).
Waiting to see photos of the kittens 🙀.

Omg she's so like my girl, who incedently was a stray hanging around our stables. She's the most gentle loving girl. She was chipped but the previous owners didn't want her back. They'd moved away and I suspect she'd been dumped.

She’s a beautiful girl. If she’s in early pg they can spay and abort but it depends how you feel about that option.

Shes landed on her paws with you.

What a beautiful darling! I'm so happy for her that you're offering her a loving home. It must be such a huge relief for her ❤️ So glad you're looking after her ❤️

I know I'm biased, but she really is quite a good cat. She loves brushing, plays nicely and comes to chirp at us if there's a problem. Usually because she can see the bottom of her bowl.
