What are your cats' purrfessions?

I've known for a while that Dr Daisy is a pawdiologist (she always checks Mum's hearing aids when I change the batteries) and today she revealed she's a pawdiatrist, too, by examining Mum's feet when I changed her shoes for her slippers. This is on top of being a food inspector and QA expurrt for knitting.

What are your cats' specialties?

This is the one that would be PM/Head of International Crime syndicate. She came from the streets, and quite literally tricked me into adopting her. She's incredibly intelligent, its actually quite unsettling sometimes. I'm not biased, because whilst my other cat is an absolute darling, I'm the first to admit she's not very bright.

One of mine definitely works for the Intelligence Services. She appears and disappears completely undetectably- sometimes for as long as two weeks-slotting back into family life as well as if she hasn't been gone.

Professional dickhead

The Stripey One is Head of Pest Control and Security. She spends all day on shift, killing any small animal or insect that enters the garden. She also defends the area from the big Cat Next Door. If he puts so much as a whisker over the fence, it all kicks off.

The Tuxedo One is a Data Protection Officer, shredding any bit of paper she lays her paws on, including bills, Christmas cards, and birth certificates. She spends a lot of time in the kitchen waiting to clear up any scraps of food and is not fussed if it is suitable for feline consumption or not. The result is that the kitchen is always very tidy as everything must be kept in cupboards.

Tuxedo also keeps an ear out for signs that Stripey is in trouble with Cat Next Door. She will rush out the flap as fast as her little legs will carry her, then lie down right in the middle of the action, pretending to be dead. This is very confusing to Cat Next Door (and Stripey), who both look on in disbelief and then forget what they were arguing about and go their separate ways.

After decades of having very laid back, calm sleepy cats my parents newest cat likes getting the zoomies from catnip, stealing my mum's sandwich (the entire sandwich) and being bossy to the kitten next door.

Pickle is a collector of things, she likes to bring us feathers, live insects, and small animals which we must see before she tries to eat, or does eat them. She is also chief spider catcher of the household. She also enjoys stealing treats from the neighbours house and bringing them back home. She also likes to assist any trades people that come to the house by following them around incessantly and sticking her nose into their work bags.

Glue is an author penning a best selling novel as she likes to make off with my pens, all - the - time. She also enjoys hiding small objects such as pegs and buttons in mine and my partners shoes. If her life as an author does not work out, she could be an opera singer.

Bandit is an unemployed recluse who hardly ever moves out of one room, unless it is to eat or to use the litter tray.

Our new adoptee seems to be an aloof starlet. She must sniff our hands before we are allowed to pat her.

Turns out the Wee Furry Shite is an undercover customs officer.

I picked up the post and assumed DP had bought some fluffy socks, so dumped the packet on the fourth stair with his letters whilst I hung my coat up and took off my shoes. Cue a loud rustling noise, followed by the beginning of the Eastenders End Title Sequence (doof-doof-DOOOOOOOOF).

He was clearly getting off his tits alerting me to the presence of catnip by hurling himself and the post down the stairs into the hallway.

Tortellini is The Ladyship - she needs no profession, she is an aristoc(r)at.

Girl cat works in PR. She's very on-it, well-connected, and full of youthful energy, but not averse to sending a warning shot to remind you not to fuck with her.

Boy cat works as a psychotherapist. He sits on his chair opposite you, asks a few questions, gives nothing of himself, then gets up and leaves the room when your 50 minutes is up.

My lovely girl is a beauty therapist because she gives me an exfoliating face wash every day.
