Anyone else have cats that don’t like Dreamies?

So, after two years of trying to adopt kittens I have finally got some. From the RSPCA. I had to drive around 1.5 hours there to fetch them, but they’re now home and have settled in. Although bring on the day I can let them out. ;)

So everywhere I’ve read about cats, I’ve seen that they all love Dreamies. That they can’t resist them, that Dreamies are the thing to have.

Except, it seems, my cats.

They don’t care for them. Positively turn their noses up at them. And pay them not the slightest attention.

I’m surely ot the only one am I?

My fussy cat is the same, and won’t even attempt to try one and doesn’t like the cat yoghurt things either.

She does love the Felix Goody bag mixed Grill treat biscuits though!

Grumpyoldpersonwithcats · 13/10/2023 11:45

Three of my cats would kill for dreamies.
The other one, Lenny, has no interest in them at all. (Little weirdo 😹)

MidnightMeltdown · 13/10/2023 11:55

Depends on the flavour. My cat doesn't like the salmon ones but loves the cheese

MidnightMeltdown · 13/10/2023 11:56

They won't eat lick-e-lix though

jesmonabullets · 13/10/2023 12:07

My cat doesn't like Dreamies either. Felix Goody-Bag on the other hand = delicious 😋

minipie · 13/10/2023 12:09

Mine. Unbothered. Absolutely loves Thrive cat treats though (basically bits of dehydrated chicken or fish). Clearly she has been reading about ultra processed food 🙄

rainbowsparkle28 · 13/10/2023 12:11

You are not the only one. Mine refuses treats (unless human food I am trying to eat 🤨) and dry cat biscuits so is on wet cat pouches. Diva! 😂

ScottBakula · 13/10/2023 12:18

My cat doesn't like them either , nor does he like any other cat treats with the exception of lick e licks ( why can I never remember how that's spelt ?) He will eat a bit of it then not touch it for days.
He also doesn't like any meat or fish ment for humans regardless as to whether it's cooked or raw.

margotrose · 13/10/2023 12:31

Mine go mental for them. Our kitten will smack you on the arm if he thinks you might be going near the treat cupboard 😂

Kilopascal · 13/10/2023 12:34

Mine won't eat Dreamies, or chicken (unless it's chicken-flavour Felix), or tuna (unless it's tuna-flavour Felix), or other fish (unless it's fish-flavour Felix), or, well, basically anything except Felix. And spiders.

I have opposite problem with one of mine. She became addicted to the extent that she was pawing and prodding me night and day for them. I had to go cold turkey on her and eventually - talking several weeks - it subsided.

Then I had a drawer out looking for something, and she came sniffing and found an ancient Dreamie lurking in a crevice and that was enough to set her off again!

VisaWoes · 13/10/2023 12:45

Yes. One of my cats eats anything and everything inc vegetables but won’t eat dreamies

Allergictoironing · 13/10/2023 18:05

Girlcat loves them, Boycat used to love them, but young Tobias usually ignores them. He sometimes snaffles up the Smilla Hearties, will eat the Rosie's Farm strip thingies, and doesn't turn his nose up at the new Catit treats.

But offer him cooked meat e.g. ham, chicken, beef, lunch tongue etc & he hovers around for ages after just in case I find another crumb to give him.

DottyLottieLou · 14/10/2023 09:31

Good for them, they are fast food for cats. Very addictive. It's hard to get them to eat proper food once they have them. My cat sits in front of the tin until he gets them. He's even managed to get the lid off himself. He will claw his way up your leg to get at them. Cold turkey is the only way. God knows what they put in these things.

GreatGardenstuff · 14/10/2023 11:09

Mine are nonplussed by dreamies and lick-e-lix. They do love the webbox sticks though. They sit and stare at the shelf where they’re kept whenever someone is in that corner of the kitchen.

HappyHolidai · 14/10/2023 11:12

I had a cat who could be relied upon to vomit when he ate Dreamies. Obviously once I discovered that, he didn't get any.

My current cats love them (and any food except Sheba) but I don't really believe in cat treats so they only get them on very rare occasions, like when they need bribing to go into their baskets.

JanS17 · 14/10/2023 11:15

If I left Dreamies out my cat would destroy the bag to get to them! Wake up in the morning to Dreamies dust all over the place and a bag torn to shreds 😂

TheGirlInTheGreenDress · 14/10/2023 11:16

Mine likes them but has worked out that I was occasionally using them to get her to come to me via dreamies (eg put her in a carrier, give her medication, come inside because I needed to keep her in) so shaking the box no longer works at all.

RelativePitch · 14/10/2023 13:07

No my cat doesn't like Dreamies, but likes Whiskas Temptations. Handy for getting him in at night. He has better recall than the dog.

Boredandbitter · 14/10/2023 13:49

My cat will put his paw in the bag and get one out and pop it in his greedy mouth. Any brand, any flavour. Will also eat any brand of cat food. He is a dream cat and very polite.

VeryQuaintIrene · 14/10/2023 13:52

I came into the kitchen this morning to find the plastic box of them on its side, opened (how?) and Max with his head stuck in it.

SleepingisanArt · 14/10/2023 14:04

Mine - he hates them. He likes supermarket own brand versions but his all time favourite are of course the HiLife chicken treats (like dehydrated chicken pieces) which I only buy on offer because at £1.75 for 10g they are waaaaaay to expensive for every day (he'd eat the whole packet at once if I let him).

Alphabet1spaghetti2 · 14/10/2023 14:14

5 cat home.
4 like dreamies
2 like likelix
1 likes felix treats
4 like cat it treats , but all four like different flavours.
1 like whiskas kitten treats
3 like whiskas crunch treats
1 likes chicken and cheese dog treats.
4 like webbox sticks 1 likes one flavour, 2 like another, 1 likes them all.
1 like Aldi treats.

I have an entire cupboard dedicated to various cat treats and a shelf of cat food under the stairs.

AnnaMagnani · 14/10/2023 14:18

Out of 4 cats none of them has liked Dreamies.

One thinks they are OK but he isn't massively motivated by food so they only work as a brief distraction at the vets.

Thrive dried chicken or Zooplus Snackies the ripoff version are usually the highest value treats. If left alone with the tub they will gorge themselves.

They have all liked Webbox Cat sticks so we save these for giving medication.

Pixiedust1234 · 14/10/2023 14:33

My cat didn't like them, she much preferred the Felix ones.

The three stray cats we've found didnt like them.

DDs idiot cat will bite your fingers off for them though, (unless you have pizza or poppadoms).
